Painted pixel for pixel in Photoshop.

Not really, I just adjust algorythms in an app call Artmatic. (Mac only, sadly.)

Thought it could be something like that, though unfamiliar with Mac software. Ther's some great stuff out there you might want to take a look at, for creating fractals etc, some of which can be absolutely stunning!

You should see this image on my 30-inch monitor. It's like it three-dimensional and made from neon. The red grid lines really step out towards the viewer.
