You Are Not Special

Jana Pope Kratochvílová - Don´t You Hear Me Screaming

And an maxi-single version:

And something else:

[Dang, recently the Safari browser on my Mac just won't play youboobs vids, what's up with that? I get at most the sound.]

$50,000 Limited Edition Hermès Leica M9-P

$50,000 Limited Edition Hermès Leica M9-P, article.

Good bless collectors, without them the camera industry would be in much more trouble.

Imagine this, they have actually changed the design for this special edition, like removing the hot shoe! I approve, it looks great.

It also includes an outstanding lens collection:

  • A Leica Summicron-M 28 mm f/ 2 ASPH
  • A Leica Noctilux-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH
  • A Leica APO-Summicron-M 90 mm f/ 2 ASPH

Top-notch glass all, cream of the cream.

I'm not sure it'll add up to fifty grand for everybody. And admittedly digital cameras tend to age faster. But still, I doubt anybody buys this for *use*. Though if they try it, they'll have a quite superior camera system, for the next several years.

"Flewn"

It seems to be a mash between a story and a game. Not sure if that will work, but I like the ideas and the art.

Google traffic stats

Is anybody familiar with Google traffic stats? If I look at the traffic for this blog, and I look at "referring URLs", then Google is well down the list, but if I look at "referring sites", then Google is the undisputed number one. Does anybody know what the difference is?

Update:
I was being unclear, it seems. I was looking at the stats which are now built into the blog (in the admin areas). I assumed they would be the same as Google Analytics, which I have used in the past, but looking now, they are different.

Stays in...

Sorry for posting a blatant commercial, but I guess I've given up fighting them. And this one is simply hysterical. The kids are so great.

LinkedIn Logins Stolen, Change Your Password Now, article

Do your comments disappear

There seems to be a host problems with comments at the moment on Blogger. Our friend, reader and prolific commenter Philocalist has told me that recently when he has commented, his comments appear for a moment, and then disappear forever. (And I don't even get them in the email, which happens if the spam filter is responsible.)

Anything like that happening to you?

Anon put in:
"Is that not akin to asking people to put their hands up if they can't hear you? :-) "

Good point, dang.     :-)
Not the least because his/her comment actually *did* disappear from the page, albeit I did get it in the email, which doesn't always happen.

I wonder if it may change it if you are not signed in as you comment? (Or vice versa.)

But one may email me if comments *always* disappear. There's a contact page on stobblehouse.com.

Interdental

Does anybody know a good type of interdental toothbrush?
I'd like one which is sort of conical, thinner towards the tip, so it can be effective in a range of different sizes of spaces.

Top 10 worst female health habits, article.

Includes "carrying a heavy handbag" and "sleeping in makeup". And of course, heels. I never got the popularity of those, they all say they're torture.

Captchas (updated)

You may have noticed Blogger's "word verifications" (captchas, the contorted words you have to read but can't) have gotten worse. Some even give up.
So I am trying turning it off. If I get too much spam, I'll turn them back on, but let's hope.

(Surely Google must be aware that everybody hates these things, because they've become unreadable??)

Update:
A half day later; first downside noted: a dozen extra spam comments. Fortunately they are usually filtered out on the site, but unfortunately, they still invade my email and have to be sorted through.

Gaiman talk

“Nothing I did where the only reason for doing it was the money was ever worth it, except as bitter experience.” — Neil Gaiman

It's weird to see ol' scruffy Neil in that robe.
I've been reading Neil's work since his early Sandman over 20 years ago. He's real plugged in. This may become as famous as the Jobs Stanford talk.
