I'm totally in luuurve!

Here's an older one, she's 14!

Yeah, I've been aware of her for a while now. She's a monster on guitar, there's no doubt about that. But I think she still has some things to learn about melody and feeling, which she has improved on since she's been posting. I wouldn't say she's a guitar heroine yet, but in a couple of years, she probably will be.

But I have admit, it's damn impressive that she could play like THAT at fourteen. She must've been playing since she was in diapers, that's the only way I can make sense of it. I've been playing guitar for six years, and I'm nowhere near that level.
My favorite youtube guitarist is Jerry C. He's the dude that originally arranged Canon Rock.

Hmmm, I just noticed I got a gazillion "friend invites" on YouTube. Does anybody know what's to gain from accepting them?

I think it has to do with your account settings. Some people will set account so that only friends can leave comments on their page, or send them private messages, etc.

Considering the kinds of comments some people leave on people's pages, I probably would set mine that way.

Lol, easy there DOM, she's not quite 18 yet.

Not even 18! Gasp.

Ah heck, it would be ageist to hold youth against her. :-)

dave nielsen said...

It's only in the U.S. that she has to be 18. She's English, and the age there is 16.

It's funny, no matter what it is, anytime you post about something you've discovered, there will always be someone who will say "Pfft! I've known about ______ for years!" Even if they haven't.

Jes said...

Lol, but actually I have, that's why I had such a detailed opinion about her. Hell, it's not like knowing someone on youtube is something to brag about anyway.

dave nielsen said...

I wasn't saying you didn't. As for the bragging, based on a lot of comments I see on there, let's just say a lot of people would disagree with you. I've stopped reading comments because of that. Stephen Fry and Craig Ferguson talked about that on Fry's most recent appearance on Ferguson's show - saying that on almost any video, if you scroll down you'll find the vilest, most hateful kind of comments.

Videos like this make me want to pick up the guitar again. Unfortunately my brain seems to have a limited capacity for learning new things. Picking up a new language and a new martial art are enough to keep it overloaded already :-(

Jes said...

Well yeah, I'll agree with you on that. Something about the internet makes people lose their heads.

Or it could just be that you have no talent.

"Or it could just be that you have no talent."

Dare you to say that to someone in real life.

dave nielsen said...

There are a few people I'd say that to in real life. I've been longing to say that to Todd McFarlane for nearly 20 years. ;-)

Robb in Houston said...

Haha, Dave! McFarlane would definitely laugh at a comment like that.

The girl is good with the guitar, but exhibiting a little emotion and getting 'into' the music would be a plus.

Unless that's the extent of her emotional involvement. There ARE people who will experience something exciting and then when it's over, get up and say "Right, I've got to ring Samuel about washing his Bugatti."

I would say it to you in real life. Scrawny, pencil neck nerds don't scare me.

Jes said...

Lol dude, you should've said "pencil neck geeks". It would've been funnier that way. Who's the wrestler that used to say that? I can't think of his name right now. Crap, that's gonna drive me crazy now.

Jes said...

Classy Freddie Blassie!

I had to google it, that was gonna drive me nuts.

Anonymous said...

See, only a nerd would know that. I notice you don't deny it. You've probably been getting beat up all your life. Scrawniness combined with idiocy and a strange, unearned arrogance would have ensured you got beat up by anyone and everyone throughout your school career. You're probably still in high school. If you ever graduate and get a job, you'll get bullied there too.

Jes said...

Of course I'm a nerd. That's practically a compliment to me.

I think the saddest thing about Todd is that he left marvel for matters of creator's ownership, and then a couple years later he has his *own* sweatshop, only doing the occasional cover.

"The girl is good with the guitar, but exhibiting a little emotion and getting 'into' the music would be a plus."

I thought the same thing. But I think it's difficult with no audience.

I saw a documentary about him once where even his wife said that he was pulling the same shit that Marvel used on him. He hated it then, but changed his tune when he became the big boss man. I guess she liked the money that bought that huge house and bigass grand piano they showed her playing.

The thing is, the "creative differences" were so stupid. He drew a Spider-Man comic where Spider-Man kills Juggernaut by stabbing him through the eye. Spider-Man doesn't kill people. And you can't just off a major character like ol' Juggie. McFarlane's a douche, really. I also, as you might have guessed, have never been a fan of his drawing style either. I couldn't tell what exactly other fans at the time thought was so great about his work.

I thought the same thing. But I think it's difficult with no audience.

I just assumed she was a bit self-conscious playing on camera. Although you'd think if she did the first one at 14 she'd be used to it by now. Then again, you know how stupid people look when they're rocking out. It would be like seeing your own O face. As David Duchovny's character said on Californication no man should ever have to see his own O face.

It shouldn't be. Nerds are losers. Nerds aren't respected in the slightest, not even by other nerds. Society doesn't value them. You might claim not to care what society thinks, but deep down you know you're worthless.

Anonymous: You must mean nerds like:

Bill Gates
Albert Einstein
Nicola Tesla
Michael DeBakey
Rod Canion
Harold Farb
David Rockefeller
Michael Eisner
Rupert Murdock

and more, right?

You, of course, are NOT a nerd.
You're anonymous and too feeble to
even MAKE UP a fake name to
post under.

Let me spell this out for you, anonymous:

L
O
S
E
R

Wow, you're still talking to me, huh? What is it you think we're discussing just out of curiousity?

dave nielsen said...

Most of the people in that list aren't nerds.
