Aviator has arrived

I just received my Aviator keyboard.
It's quite possible to touch-type on it, though the modifier keys are obviously smaller and different shapes, and there are bigger spaces between them, so it will take a little getting used to. But not all that much, I think, and it feels solid.

What's that futuristically shaped thing behind the pinup calendar?

What's with all the cables?

Seeing the monitor, it doesn't look too bad. I was thinking of the Mac screens of a couple of years ago.

Is your desk always that tidy?

Pretty much.

I have tried Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, and I didn't like them. Also the TactilePro doesn't come in wireless, and I like that one, best to type on.

I have a wireless mouse, I love the freedom, especially with a laptop. It's not Bluetooth, and only gives problems when the batteries are draining. As for the keyboard, I typically have a keyboard shelf to pu the keyboard at the right height, that means the wires can be dressed under the desk. Currently I have no keyboard shelf, and I really miss it.

That wallpaper of yours looks vaguely familiar...

I like that calendar too.

Solid? Meh. Looks like a hologram to me. An old-style hologram.
Plus, the retro girl on your calendar isn't even nude. Spoilsport.

Nice! Now all you need is a matching aeroplane to go with that keyboard.

The tidy desk reminds me of Howard Hughes.

Wow, it looks so tiny in front of that monitor! Jeez, are there really desks that stay that clean? Mine looks like a cross between an electronics lab and hurricane aftermath.

I've gotten tidy in my middle age.
And after I hired help, it's clean too. Gotta love it.

The Calendar is my favorite pin-up artist, Gil Elvgren. Sadly he did too few nudes. Surely he could not sell them back in those days. But he was way better than Vargas.

See the pinup pages here:

Well I think those old pinups are sometimes better because of what they don't show. We can get desensitized to anything I guess, including nudity. Seeing less skin is sometimes better because of that.

I can't say I know any other pinup artists than Vargas, though.

By the way, apart from the cords, that desk setup looks like something from Dark City.

Interesting. I can't use a standard layout keyboard anymore, though, unfortunately. I'm too used to the split ones now.

So what could Richard do with a Key ovation "Gold Touch" for under $300?

Wow! I guess that didn't occur to me because I'm used to seeing subwoofers kept on the floor. But who says they have to be placed there. Interesting looking design.

Yes, it's weally kool.
I don't know how they can sell this set for such a low price.

One of the first times my cleaning lady was around after I got it, she said to me breathily: "I am fascinated by that thing... what is it?"

Hehe. Did she have any comments on the subwoofer? ;-)
