Dear River - Kina Grannis

I predict Kina Grannis will be a big success.
(Not a difficult prediction.)

I've always had a problem with beauty in her caliber. It attracts like hell, but it also hurts. Really hurts. Anybody else know this?
Maybe if I could fool myself, like most of us do, that "catching" her would be to catch the beauty and thus end the pain, but I can't.

So, she will amount to nothing, then.

All women are beautiful; just most men don't take the time to look beyond the temporary outer shell that they came in...

No, not all women are beautiful, just like not all men are handsome. Women do not often look beyond that outer shell either. Inner qualities matter, but without an attractive shell they're not enough. That's just the way of the world. That you think otherwise means you're either very beautiful or very ugly.

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder," Anon... Who gives a shit what I look like; it's about what I think about myself as a person and not just the meat suit that I arrived and lived in! To you, I might look ugly, but your opinion of me is none of my business...

I will say that MOST women who are beautiful are only that; "skin deep." Trust me, they are NOT someone who is going to be there for you, because they are *so* insecure as to who they are, that one hair out of place, the next time they walk by some shiny object that reflects their [fleeting] beauty, sends them into a tailspin!! They aren't about loyalty and love, they're about keeping up appearances and...trust me...WOMEN KNOW THIS, so DON'T "cow" to "a pretty face," of a man, because they KNOW that that dude ain't going to be there for them, when they really need them... It's too bad that men don't get and learn that, but...many women also get that that is how men are wired and can't seem to help themselves but to fall for something so superficial...

I had a Grandmother that had very wrinkly skin; she was overweight; she had large, long, and dangly ear lobes; a big nose (you get the point), but...to me, she was the most beautiful person that I have ever met...because her HEART "sang," and her SOUL was full of love, joy, and "thought for other." Her [disgusting and "beautiful"] daughter, however, once told me that her mother "had" to be nice, because of her "ugliness." What a cruel thing to say about one's own mother...and a lie!! To this day, her daughter sits by herself in an empty house, because she was only "beautiful" on the surface and...that went away, with time, only to reveal her ugly heart and soul. If men would look beyond the surface, they would see the beauty that MOST "average" women have...under the surface; character traits (loving and loyal, to name but a couple) that are, still, there...until they go home to meet their Maker.

Men AND women, who can't see beyond the TEMPORARY surface beauty, are fools and will pay dearly, in a LOT of pain and grief, down the line...and I have to wonder if it's worth selling your soul to have a little bit of "arm candy" for a short period of time...

You want to be judged on what's inside, but they don't deserve the same courtesy? Based on what you've said, you're ugly inside. And bitter.
