Fallingwater

Frank Lloyd Wright's famous house Fallingwater.
Pictures - video - article.
It's a really cool house in many ways, but the one thing I just don't get is that you can't see the waterfall from inside! That's like hiring a world-class chef and then always just ordering chinese take-out.

But, you can hear it. I'm very ambivalent about Wright. As a child, I attended the same Unitarian church as him, sweeping in with his accolytes, bowing and scraping. His houses are not easy to live in, though Falling Water, sounds delightful, pun intended. I love some of his designs, though, and in fact, have, ahem, borrowed , from him.

We've got some FLW near here.

It's often pretty and interesting stuff, but it does get over sold. Try looking at a PBS catalog (Signals) a few years ago, 1/4 of the gifts for sale were based on his work.

There was a time in my youth when my two favourite houses were House at Falling Water and Cragside in Northumbria (not FLW).

Yeah, it's funny how we humans tend to overdo the "star" thing.

Look at the caption for this photo you referenced. As Janulis said, it's the sound. But also, "Frank Lloyd Wright planned the house with this view in mind." I've seen the house from the wood across the stream and it is an amazingly impressive sight.

Frank Lloyd Wright liked to take it up the ass. Dry.
