Bread and neighbors

Mmmm, my apartment smells of fresh-baked bread right now. Nice.

A few days ago I gave a still warm loaf to my new neighbors. More personal (and actually cheaper) than wine. They were delighted.
Just trying to be neighborly. The fact that they are nice young women has nothing to do with it.

Sure. If you say so.

At 50p for .75l at Lidl surely wine would be cheaper.

We used to have a menage next door to us too.

You can buy wine for fifty p??!
When I was buying wine for my mom thirty years ago, the cheapest was maybe two pounds. In Denmark of course.

Anyway, I guess a loaf costs me around fifty pence to make, at most.

It was an assumption based on all the stories I've heard about Lidl, the one shop that could under price Walmart and seems less ethical in it's way of execution business.

e.g. In Anglesey Lidl built the supermarket without planning permission. I believe they paid the fines. I think they also did business without a license, and paid the fines. The populace voted with their LSD (Pounds, Shillings and Pence) and became regular customers.

I make my own wine and there's nothing like a personalized label on a nice bottle of chokecherry or pear wine. Probably about 3$ a bottle.

1) install CCTV cameras in your shower.
2) bribe care taker so the hot water to their flat doesn't work
3) lend them the use of your shower.

I rather like the plumber's idea. I'll have to refine the strategem a bit and give it a go!

As for cheapness ... Lidl isn't actually as bad as Aldi.

Our homemade wine, from our own excellent grapes, is perhaps the best I know.
We also press our own olive oil from our fields, and every year we make a nice little profit from selling the surplus, because it's of very high quality.
Imagine: entirely natural, grown under mediterranean weather in mediterranean soil... I bet we'd make a mint exporting that stuff to the USA, with a properly certified label of quality.
If we actually made enough to go into international trade! :-)

But as it is, we manage to enjoy some very healthy food in this crazy world.

The grapes grow on their own. Olives would cost at harvest and pressing, but we pay the harvesters with a share of the olives, and our family's owned part of the local oil press for generations.
Anybody who comes visiting and reminds me (I'm very forgetful) will receive a gift sample.

I see The Plumber is clearly an experienced professional. :-)

Hmm, Pascal now has me thinking of a line from Shirley Valentine "You go and give his olives a good pressing!". I hope that comes back to the stage some time, it's a great play.

As for the plumber. Just re-watched Nuns on the Run this weekend. First time on DVD so I could slo-mo the shower scene. There are times when I envy Mr Coltrane.

It's funny how you keep saying you are asexual. Clearly you are not.

Well, nothing is absolute.

Yes, that was an excellent shower scene. There should be more like that.
