1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543

12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432

123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321

1 x 9 + 2 = 11

1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111

12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111

123456789 x 9 +10= 1111111111

9 x 9 + 7 = 88

98 x 9 + 6 = 888

987 x 9 + 5 = 8888

9876 x 9 + 4 = 88888

98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888

987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888

9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888

98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888

1 x 1 = 1

11 x 11 = 121

111 x 111 = 12321

1111 x 1111 = 1234321

11111 x 11111 = 123454321

111111 x 111111 = 12345654321

1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321

11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321

111111111 x 111111111=12345678987654321

Final Identity added:

In this sequence ...

1 x 9 + 2 = 11
12 x 9 + 3 = 111
123 x 9 + 4 = 1111
1234 x 9 + 5 = 11111
12345 x 9 + 6 = 111111
123456 x 9 + 7 = 1111111
1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111
12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111
123456789 x 9 +10= 1111111111

... they left out the first one

0 x 9 + 1 = 1

Curses, I was beaten to it! Drat, and double-drat.
Too much blasted competition, these days. The flaming business isn't what it used to be. There's been a steady decline averaging 12.34% every 5.67 years...
And in '08, the quality dropped by precisely 9%.

A running joke with my mates during my last internship, was to page each other giving the number 07734 instead of an internal phone. "Those who knew" just read their pager upside-down and smiled.
(Type it on an LCD calculator, you'll understand.)

But I'm having a hard time understanding KabelYaache's "beautiful math" sample...

Wow! Thatzz amazin' Eolake!

Lol Pascal. Punch in the figures 7353 and you get the German word for donkey - I think there exist many more such combinations.

I have always admired the beauty of mathematic formula and the way how math works. I've never been brilliant at maths though.

Isn't it like loving a beautiful woman, without really understanding her?

A nerd? Thanks, guys. Since nobody ever mistook me for a jock, I guess a nerd is the second-best option.

Check out the little guy. The beauty of math made audible.

Pascal [P-04referent] said...

"the second-best option"? 707!

Right you are, Bert. Anything using only the letters IZEhSGLBgO.

It's quite fortunate for the survival of the species that we don't need to understand women in order to appreciate their beauty. :-)
It's just as fortunate that THEY can appreciate men even after understanding them!!! ;-)

Hmm, Pascal, my calculator swore me to damnation, 07734, well it discarded the leading zero...

I always though 26 minutes to midnight was an interesting reminder of the upcoming witching hour. (Lie on your bed upside down and watch your LCD clock radio.)

Think EO's a nerd, next he'll be telling you the interesting times on his BCD clock, such as 7:57:57 or the house at 3:50 etc

As for KabelYaache, my retort "yy ur, yy ub, ic ur yy 4 me"

I'm clearly a weak-ass nerd, all these things are way above my head.

I bow to the present collectors of lego and action figures.

Great, you got me surfing, and I found this...

Pascal [P-04referent] said...

Alex,
You could always try cheating a bit (pun intended), and type 0.7734
Remember: it's not how big the number, it's how you use it.
Nanoo-nanoo, live long and prosper. Dirk, out.

Oh, and thanks for the info, now I know why evil midnight spirits ALWAYS sneak up on me early to pull on my toes. Because their ETA is 23hundred34 hours!!! (But what does "hEEZ" mean???)
Now I'll know to have my trusty silverbulleted-shotgun ready before 11:34 PM.
And to hang my digital clock upside-down, ter konfyooze dem heckish varmints!

Speaking of interesting license plates, I saw many years ago the genuine photo of a license plate in the italian city of Pisa, that was mathematically amazing. It read: PI 314 159.
Geeks worldwide will appreciate the 5-digit precision...

And Eolake, right you are. It is wise from you not to try to compete outside your league. But judging by your website, I'm sure your collection of live aidolls is without equal. ;-)

Those are geeks, not nerds. ;-)

Ah, I always mix them up.

Pascal [P-04referent] said...

Hey, show a little more respect, man.
I mean, one doesn't exclude the other! :-)

You people are scary.
And at the same time somehow fascinating to watch, like the fangs of a cobra about to strike.

I look at the way Milhouse did:

"I am not a nerd! Nerds are smart!"
