A Pink World
A friend's little daughter at three once looked out the window, very thoughtful, and after a while said to her mother: "Mom, wouldn't it be beautiful if everything was pink?"
I find this not just cute and funny, but remarkably thoughtful.

I could just imagine a pink sky. Hand me mouth rinse after i vomit lol. Cute remark by the kid but everything pink would stink. I guess that's why God created the spectrum of colors. Thankfully. Makes you appreciate the variations.
Cute and thoughtful indeed. But strangely enough, not all that uncommon.
One of my friends once painted his study's walls pink. We worked together in this room many times, completing several compositions and other projects. I was so taken by how the pink walls affected my brain/mood that I made the decision to also paint my own writing room pink. I haven't done it yet, but I am going to.

That will be interesting. I drive a pink small S-10 truck and people think I'm gay. My girlfriend laughs at this :) I thought only women liked pink? It's a beautiful color to me.

Our faculty for emotions is a highly transient mechanism. If love was an emotion, it would mean that one moment we'd love a person, but the next moment, when some unrelated emotion kicked in, the love would cease. But, perhaps, later in the day, we would love the person again.
Also, emotions are affected by our beliefs. If love was an emotion, it would mean that we could fall in and out of love based on the beliefs we align with.
But, of course, if "God proved it to you", then discussing this matter is pointless.
What a colour stands for, also depends on in which part of the world you live. Never give your chinese spouse white roses, white being the colour of mourning; whereas here in Germany we mourn in black clothes and celebrate in white. Red is the colour of love here, in China it's associated with weddings. So be careful how far you want to go when expressing things through colours. :-)

Hardly. You can love someone and be angry with them at the same time. True love exists even when some unrelated emotions kick in. You don't stop loving your children when they sin and make mistakes. That's not true love to begin with.
If it's pure, love the ultimate emotion Anna does come from God and I believe it's everlasting even beyond the grave. No matter what color we believe it to be.

Dr. Donald Smith, Emotions are a crucial part of being in love, but love is more than just an emotion, and TTL makes a good point here. Just like clinical depression is not simply a sad mood, but this mood becoming an emotional STATE to an abnormal degree. (As you surely know, being a colleague M.D.) It's a slightly technical debate at this point, but it's best to clear all semantic misunderstandings. Love begins as an emotion. I believe TTL meant that when it remains it is as a spiritual action.
"You can love someone and be angry with them at the same time." Are you saying we all agree here, that love is way more than just an emotion (contrarily to anger, for instance)? I deeply believe that at some point, it's a very active choice.

I recall a french saying : "There's no accounting for tastes and colors." They vastly differ between each individual, for genetic as well as cultural reasons. We each perceive them in our own manner. Including the symbolic color of love.

You hit a home run here Anna. I understand your well thought out logic. God did prove it by the shedding of his blood. Red does "represent the ultimate" love/emotion unconditional representation of the truest form. You must study a lot. I hope you post more often :)

Hmm... The color of shed blood is not exclusive to love. Far from it, alas! I feel that in this case you mention, the shedding of Jesus' blood is more representative of the violence with which love is met sometimes. (Hence the need for sacrifice.) "I love to hate you, and I hate you because you love me, so I hasten to kill you before you make me start loving too." Or something of that sort. :-(
This world isn't all pink yet, not by far. So let's keep painting!!! :-)
You are on target Tony. God bless you. It's apparent that you truly have studied the word of God. Greater love has no man than this that he would lay down his life for a friend. And John 3:16 is the love verse. Also the good book says " with his stripes we are healed." What great love Christ had for us! " Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin." I also believe Tony that's why the color of blood is red after it reaches the air because of it's life giving flow. Tony, you may also know that love is the ultimate sacrifice, our greatist gift of emotion and devotion which are timeless. And the second commandment is to LOVE thy neighbor. That's the great thing about love, you can't turn it off and on like a lightswitch. It's automatically entwined in all of us even though you'd never guess that in some folk :) But it's there for sure somewhere, just like all our other leading emotions.

The dictionary states that love is, "A profound AFFECTION (tender feeling AKA emotion) or deep devotion. My Thesaurus states that love is 1. Affection 2. Affinity 3. Attachment 4. Attraction 5. Heart 6. Compassion 7. Devotion 8. Fondness 9. Kinship 10. Concern 11. Warmth
It says nothing about it being an "action." Although it can be at times. It basically is emotion. A great one too!

Have you ever noticed that if you write the word "magnanimous" on your wall and stare at while standing on your head, after several minutes your head starts to hurt?
