A little night set. Spoooky.

Again: the camera of course attempts to even things out and get details all over the frame, so it takes deliberate "violence" to the pictures to make them look like they looked to the eye when I photographed, meaning very dark indeed. They were incredibly drab coming out of the camera.

The industrial wasteland you live in is pretty grim, but would be even in broad daylight. Very, very depressing. Soul crushing even. There's got to be somewhere just as cheap that looks a little nicer.

I wondered if and how much of that had been done. Thanks for mentioning that.

You need to check out the new Nokia PureView 808 phone containing a 41-megapixel camera! Incredible low light performance.

I hope now finally people will begin to understand (again) that it's the megapickels that matter! Above all else. The more we have those, the better the camera.

Of course, the smell of a camera, or bouquet, is still an important indicator too.

That's only true up to a point and it depends on how big you want to blow it up. There's little sense in someone who's only going to print 4x6 snapshots to get megapixels out the wazoo.

Hellooooo anonymous, time to "come out"!! I live in the area you describe as an industrial wasteland. It is a pretty area with lots of trees and greenery plus squirrels and many varieties of birds. If you ever feel brave enough to venture out from your hiding place, come and check it out!!

Yep, nothing wrong with it. All is, for a photographer a rusted gate is more interesting than a freshly painted one, so I of course go to those areas when I carry the camera.

But some just bark up every tree they pass, just in case.

Chloe Sevigny called Manchester the grimmest place on Earth (a bit of a stretch, but still), and you live in the same kind of place. I hate to tell you this, Mary, but no one would fly all the way to England to walk around a place like that. There's nothing to see, it's all the kind of industrial, practical-but-fugly kind of architecture.

If you ever feel brave enough to venture out from your hiding place

Lame. I'm sure that kind of thinking helps you live with yourself, but really? You're obviously more Forrest Gump than Doogie Howser.

And this is another example of why you'll never take a picture anyone gives a shit about.

Give up making comments until you have had therapy. You are obviously bitter and twisted and hiding behind your anonymous badge. I have travelled abroad and also lived abroad so have knowledge of many different towns and cities. Bolton is not the best town but it is certainly not the worst.

Who are you kidding? You've lived no where else or you wouldn't have come back.

Usually those who suggest therapy for others would actually benefit greatly from it themselves.

You should reconsider punching above your weight. Doogie Howser you are not.

I feel very sorry for you because you are obviously a very sick person. I lived away from Bolton for 40 years and chose to come back. Do not bother to respond because I have wasted too much time on you already!!

I kind of have to respond, as I'd hate to be the first person to have ever followed your orders - or to have at least appeared to.

I feel very sorry for you because you are obviously a very sick person.

An objective observer would probably think this of you, not me. Based on your responses you have a limited intellect and are emotionally fragile.
