Prayer of the Day

"Dear Lord, please change me so I'll easier be able to feel gratitude. I'd be very thankful!"

-----------------

Since people tend to put things in a context they are used to, I better explain that when I use terms like "prayer", "god", "meditation", "spirituality" and such I use them as very wide terms, which include the variations known to Christians, Buddhists, etc etc, but also variations not coming from any organized religion, but just what a person might develop personally of methods to do his spiritual work.

And it seems that's a trend: studies show that fewer and fewer people in the western world think of themselves as belonging to a specific and limited church, but more and more think of themselves as Spiritual in some form.

Thanks. I'm grateful for your comment. Hey, it may be working already.

BTW, for the legions who have trouble following my labyrinthine mind, this is a serious wish/prayer. But at the same time I thought the second line was funny, in light of the first.

Religion is a hard thing to talk about, at least for me.

Lord Jesus Christ forgives vehicular assailant

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. -- The victim might have forgiven the woman who ran him down in a Massachusetts crosswalk, but police haven't.

Police say a Pittsfield woman has been cited for running down a man named Lord Jesus Christ as he crossed a street in Northampton on Tuesday.

The 50-year-old man is from Belchertown. Officers checked his ID and discovered that, indeed, his legal name is Lord Jesus Christ. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor facial injuries.

Police say 20-year-old Brittany Cantarella was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

I'd be having a LOT of trouble forgiving my parents for "allowing" me to walk around w/His Name like that! I can't IMAGINE his childhood and...adults aren't much nicer, either!! :-( And it's quite "in-yer-face" of the parents to have insisted on this, too, isn't it?! I would want to hear their reasoning behind doing something like that! :-(

Indeed religion is hard to talk about, it is one of those subjects traditionally barred to avoid fire fights, along with politics (and one more?).

Some catholics believe that protestants will go to hell, and vice versa. Although most religions preach tolerance and forgiveness, there's a lot of judgment among practitioners.
