Adsense

Those google ads you see in blocks of a few text ads on some sites, does anybody know if anybody is earning anything on them?
I guess they are generated automatically based on keywords in the text. I always overlook them. Although unlike animated ads, they don't irritate me.

Those with significant traffic earn good money.

Google, though, has been known to revoke the agreement from webmasters without warning or explanation. So, you should probably not base your ad revenue on Adsense alone. Maybe use a combination of Adsense and Amazon or some other advertiser.

Seeing them on Blogger when I post, I'd say the advertisers are paying for the free hosting of my blog. That's nice. AND minimally annoying, indeed. :-)

Undoubtedly. My last two posts got me a nice sampling of swine flu-related offers. I even mention that in one of them.

BTW, I seem to be on a streak of medical articles. My next one will be about depression, and with some very interesting news. Written is quite an un-technical style, too! Should interest a lot of people.
(But fear not, I'm not planning on forsaking the funny topics! Not with the state of the world TODAY!)
Probably going to complete it in no more than a few days' time. I've only got the translation left to do.

(How's THAT for subtle yet clever self-promoting? ;-)

For static content, yes. For volatile content, and new content that they haven't had a chance to spider yet, it may be anything, including public announcements.

Also, advertisers can target a specific website with their ads! And the webmaster can exclude specific advertisers. It's a complex system in all.

Blogger makes it easy to add Adsense ads into one's blog, I understand.

And, may I add, "to add bland Adsense ads ad libertam".

Your twitter question re adsense?
I've run a non profit website for a few years. Never bothered me. Then I decided it could make a little money and invested in ten minutes scripting to add the adsense javascript. It talks to google, adds relevant adds and shows as html.

Initially it was roughly 90 per quarter I was getting, enough to pay my internet bills.

Then I had an offer from four guys who wrote an editor that I really like, they doubled the annual pay and I switched. Hasn't worked out so I'm likely to go back to adsense.
It's zero work for me, I generate all my webpages so adding one or the other is no big deal using xslt.

It could/may pay with your somewhat different websites. More likely sponsorship or dedicated adverts would bring in more, but then you have to choose who to allow on your site! Far harder choice for you!

The other one I've been offered is these 'pop up' ads? Hilit, when you mouse over, an annoying ad pops up for the reader. They specify
the word, you mark up your content, ensuring these words are included. Odd.

Yes, popups are the top in irritation.

Eo, click on the Google Ads on my site every day for the next 30 days and I'll get back to you about their earning potential ;-)
