RSS

How do I make a link to let people get RSS feed for this blog?

Update: thanks to my alert readers. I've selected to add the link manually to the right side now, it says "RSS feed".

The link I mentioned that I constructed was: http://eolake.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

I don't know what specific specification this would be, but NetNewsWire handles it just fine.

OK, it's apparently an Atom feed.

Don't know if it's what you are looking for, buy you can add it as an "element" from the many gadgets available from Blogger in the "design" menu.

When I view a Blogger blog, at the top I see a Search field, a "flag blog" button, a "next blog" link, my email addresss, a Dashboard link, a Sign Out link. No RSS link. I use Safari and Firefox on Mac.

For what I suggested, you should go to the Dashboard, then Design, Add element and select the rss feeder.

Thanks.
I find a "customize design" link.
When I click on that, I get:
"Give your blog a whole new look!
We've introduced a new tool for customizing the appearance of your blog. Before you can use this tool, you'll need to upgrade your template.
By upgrading, you will lose many of the changes you previously made to your template. However, we will save a copy of your current template so that you can access it later."

I don't remember the changes I've made to the template, but there are some, so I don't want to go through this now.

Hello, Eolake! :)

Adding a feed won't change any alterations you may have done to your blog. Click on "costumize" on your nav bar, then on "Add a gadget", then on "Subscription Links (New!) Let your readers easily subscribe to your blog with popular feed readers". Then it's just a matter of moving that new element up or down your index, and leaving it where you think it looks best. And naturally hitting "save".

I think this blog is using the older Blogspot templates, so that's why you are getting that message about upgrading.

I used to use the older Blogspot templates, but it's been a while so I don't remember the details. From what I recall, you can add links to the sidebar by adding the HTML directly to the Template code. eg find the location of the other sidebar items, and add your html there.

However, I think that upgrading to the new blogger templates is a better trade-off. You can easily add/remove and re-arrange things on your blog with drag-and-drop and add all sorts of widgets without touching the actual HTML template.

Funny you should mention as I was just looking for this information earlier today so I could read you via LiveJournal.

I found that you're already syndicated there though: eolake_feed for anyone else who might be looking for that info.
