Chooka Parker

[Thanks to Basil]
Talk about don't judge a book by its cover. If I met this guy accidentally, I'm sure I'd like him, but I'd never guess he could play like that.

What a beaut, that middle judge. A bit over-made-up, though. It seems to be a trend in recent years, an unfortunate one in my view, to put so much paint on pop culture women that you can't see a square millimeter of their own colors.

Now that Japanese guy sure can play. :-)

Seriously though, thanks for this EO. Wow, for a 16 year old kid from the country that's raw talent!

Fricken amazing Eolake! Gotta nab this for my "school-trained" musicians, especially the snobs. ;O)

Talent is incredible, I don't dispute that. But I don't buy the backwaters-retard-who's-never-seen-or-heard-anything-before routine, that's for sure.

I'll gladly eat my socks if that kid has never heard Keith Jarrett's piano improv pieces (The Paris Concert, The Köln Concert, etc). And so many other influences also keep popping up here and there when he plays, it's impossible that he really pulled that music out of thin air.

That's like saying that a race of aliens visiting Earth for the first time would look like humans so much that they could walk among us incognito! BULLSHIT.

Shore 'nuff.
It may be a bit of an act. Good for him.
I don't think he claimed, though, that he hadn't had access to modern media though.

Haven't you ever heard of Johnny B. Goode?

Seriously, though, living in the country doesn't really mean much these days, he'd have access at least to all the recorded music and everything else that the rest of us have.

To all the unbelievers here, I know Chooka and his family and believe it or not (hard as it is) this family has deliberately made a choice to reject many material objects that we mindlessly consume and consume some more. They have no TV (borrowed one for a short time to watch the competition), they had vinyl records, not cd, no iPods, mobiles, phones, etc. Just take a moment longer to think this out...aside from obviously possessing some amazing abilities that go beyond the 'norm' (Im no psychologist)he has had time to develop such a profound passion for music that he has spent every spare minute of his day for the past 5 years or so playing around, experimenting with the sounds that were constantly playing in the background whilst he was home schooled. BELIEVE ME - WYSWYG! If you want more Chooka check out his newly released iTunes CD "No Worries" Thank and cheers to you all.
