Scratched Glasses Give Perfect Vision For Any Eyesight

Scratched Glasses Give Perfect Vision For Any Eyesight, Gizmodo article.

I'd like to try those, I'm tired of changing 'round between normal and reading glasses alda time.
Hmm, of course they may not help me, since I got astigmatism on both eyes too.

Rasterbrillen or pinhole glasses (see comments):

Neeraj says that the world through the pinhole glasses looks "Funny - maybe like looking through a bug's or fly's eye. As I have mentioned: You have to get used to integrate the superposition of all the single pictures of every hole, which needs some time and training."

It reminds me on another kind of glasses - I don't know any English word for it, in German its called "Rasterbrille" or "Lochbrille".

At http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rasterbrille you'll find an article (in German) about this type of "glasses", judging it negatively, but I like the effect. The design shown in this wikipedia article is really bad, there are much cooler ones - I have one, and sometimes I use it instead of sun glasses on bright sunny days. I recommend in any case to use a design where the light coming laterally is blocked.

The principle: Every small hole gives a picture with big depth of field, so you see sharp over big distance without any glass lens. But you have to get used to integrate the superposition of all the single pictures of every hole, which needs some time and training. Its funny in my experience.

Whether astigmatism would be a problem or not, I can't say. I suppose, its no bigger problem.

Yes, that principle I can understand. You can get a similar effect by looking through your eyelashes.

I wonder why there aren't more glasses like that? In good light they should be useful.

I'm wondering, too - maybe the lobby of opticians? Oh, well, a conspiracy theory ;-)

Googling "Rasterbrille" you'll find some companies offering it, of course in German - I don't know the English term for it.

AFAIK this principle is very old and used e.g. by Inuits.

So these aren't what you're talking about, right Neeraj?

I think I know the ones that you are talking about. I almost bought some of them years ago because they claimed that you could "train" your eyes to get stronger using them.

Wow! I LOVE the internet: 2 questions and BAM! Are these the ones, Neeraj?

(don't appear to be very helpful...on a windy BEACH! ;-)

neeraj said...

O.k., now I have learned that the English word is "pinhole-glasses" - thats what I mean.

I don't know whether the claim of being a tool for training the eyes is true or not, but the effect of seeing sharp without refraction glasses I can confirm - if you are not TOO much near- or far-sighted.

But its true, too, that the peripheral vision is reduced, so its not recommendable for some situations like car driving.

But I like it especially being on a beach on a bright sunny day instead of sunglasses - why do you think its not very helpful there?

As I have mentioned lateral straylight should be blocked by design (and by that the eyes are also protected against wind), otherwise its irritating, at least for me.

Verra interesting.

Could also make you look like a scary blind superhero, like DareDevil or Spiderman. (OK, the latter can see, but you can't see his eyes.)

I could send you a picture of me wearing these glasses, looking like a happy mafioso ...

Just use Dropbox to link on here and don't mind if "some of us" can't repress a giggle or two! lol! :-D

"why do you think its not very helpful there?"

It was just my silly humor...picturing a very windy day: walking against a strong wind; eyes getting "wind burned" from the "jet streams" of air being forced through; and...minute sand particles pelting your face & eyes upon contact. I guess walking backwards (against the direct wind) would work and look additionally "peculiar" to any onlooker! ;-)

Post updated with Neeraj's glasses.

I wonder if the pinholes are smaller than the pupil would get by itself in bright light?

The only downside to these is that you have to look like a complete douche!

Yeah, much smaller.

It's possible to take it too far. Then people just think of you as a clown. That's not good. And anyway, there's no such thing as spiritual development.

Thanks for posting pics, Eo and Neeraj. OK...I tried not chuckling too much at them! :-) It puts a whole new meaning to "...putting on the sunglasses, so she couldn't see his eyes!" lol! :-)

It almost looks - unlike the ones that I have seen and found pics of - like they incorporated a little of BOTH "technologies" into your pair.

And now, you've got me curious as to how, um, "buggy" (couldn't resist! :-D it would be to deal w/this issue: "You have to get used to integrate the superposition of all the single pictures of every hole, which needs some time and training." that you write about.

But...now, I'm also wondering if...upon pondering this, has your eyesight improved, since you started wearing these?

Can you imagine all of us "buzzing" around w/these on? Especially peeps who have a lot of "face time" in front of others; how WEIRD to not be able to SEE the other person's eyes?! Flies might be able to get away w/it but...nah...I think this would not work for the "general" public. Truthfully, I don't even know if I would wear them to the beach! lol! Would these things help catch your attention of a young lady, Eo? Neeraj? Any dude?! I'm guessing that *some* of the "attraction" that men have toward a woman is...her EYES, no? :-)

So...'Nerd Girl' me would just wear them out suntanning on my back deck! :-D

Thanks for sharing your pics w/us, Neeraj. I appreciate your bravery! :-D

I would just paint Paul Newman's eyes on them.

I'll try to answer some of the questions (hoping that I'm able to say what I mean, because English is not my mother tongue).

I know for sure, that
"Be a joke unto yourself" (Osho)
is a very good advice.

For me it doesn't mean to play the clown game in order to get attention from others.

It means simply: Observe yourself attentively - your thoughts flowing through the mind, your behavior, all aspects of yourself - without judging, without reacting, without doing anything with it, just relaxing into it ... and according to my experience you will more and more chuckle about all the happenings, delighted about the overall mystery of being alive. Deeply inside, maybe often not even seen by others. Sincere and honest about yourself, but not serious in any way. For me it's not a loud thing, its just a growing feeling of softness and love about myself being here.

And by that silly mind games will dissolve and loose their grip on you more and more. Thats what I mean with "basic quality of spiritual development". Of course I know that "spiritual development" is an oxymoron.

"... has your eyesight improved, since you started wearing these?"

At least it has not gone worse over many years. I'm wearing these "glasses" very seldom, e.g. in holidays at some beach. As I have mentioned it feels funny, and sometimes I want to explore it. And it is a good protection for the eyes in bright sunlight, furthermore I can see sharply without a refraction lens (I'm not extremely short-sighted). So, why not?

BTW the picture was shot by my girlfriend during holidays in a naturist area at the Mediterranean Sea two or three years ago. We were simply happy there. And what anybody else there was thinking about me wearing this ... well, its not my business. But I have not observed any negative reaction - the overall feeling at that naturist beach is very relaxed and nonintrusive.

"Would these things help catch your attention of a young lady ...?"

I've never seen a young lady wearing these, so I don't know. I guess, my attention depends on some more general vibrations emanating from that lady, like when I can feel that she is totally comfortable and flowering within herself, thats very attractive for me. Of course, in that case probably very soon I would like to see her eyes ... and if the situation feels right, I guess I would simply ask for it, gently, not intrusively. In this way it could be a trigger to get in touch with her ;-)

Your English is GREAT, Neeraj! Your description of your self-observation was really good.

"I can see sharply without a refraction lens..."

Well that is certainly cool!

"BTW the picture was shot by my girlfriend during holidays in a naturist area at the Mediterranean Sea two or three years ago. We were simply happy there. And what anybody else there was thinking about me wearing this ... well, its not my business."

Sounds like a nice time and...I liked your last reminder. Indeed. :-)

""So, why not?" and "I've never seen a young lady wearing these, so I don't know."

I was just playing "devil's advocate" w/the scenario; nothing serious. I just thought the issue of trying to wear them for "everyday wear" would not work so well as we all try to communicate w/each other; and, perhaps, for those who are hoping to find that "special someone," these might be a tad of a deterrent at the beach! ;-)

"Your English is GREAT, Neeraj!"

Nice to hear, thanks. Sometimes I'm just a bit unsure about that, because every word (and all the more every sentence built of words) is a multilayered thing, having additional subtle meanings which I simply don't know ... I try my best, and if something goes wrong, I appreciate feedback.

"Your description of your self-observation was really good."

I'd like to add (because it might be still misunderstable, as I can see now after rereading): I don't mean some kind of "happy-go-lucky-attitude" or of a superficial "don't worry, be happy" - it includes ALL aspects.

For example, when I feel sad, then it seems not apposite to describe it as "chuckling about that", its more like a deep appreciation of the unique depth of being sad, welcoming it as an integrated part of the overall mystery of being alive. Then you don't get lost in it.

I'm not sure how that sounds ...;-)

Not what I meant at all. It means if you insist on wearing weird shit, doing weird things, etc., you will be seen as a fool and no one will have any respect for you. They will dismiss you as a weirdo. Sad, but true.

Your English is GREAT, Neeraj! Your description of your self-observation was really good.

Her English is good, not great, or she wouldn't have misunderstood. That said, I don't speak any other languages, so... But compared to Eolake's or Pascal's, it's not quite up to the same level.

"It means if you insist on wearing weird shit, doing weird things, etc., you will be seen as a fool and no one will have any respect for you. They will dismiss you as a weirdo. Sad, but true."

Frankly, I don't understand. Its not the reality in my life. For me its reversely: All the people I'm connected with are respecting me, and I respect everybody of them, independent on what somebody of us is doing - otherwise we wouldn't be connected. Its that simple.

Maybe I'm lucky because I'm a freelancer, but maybe also I'm a freelancer in order to be lucky ;-)

Of course, I also meet "new" people I don't know yet and who don't know me either. But I respect them fundamentally (which doesn't contradict the fact that sometimes I have to protect myself from intrusive people). That prevents me naturally "to take it too far", it has clear consequences about my "vibes" and my behaviour (e.g. I don't have to "insist" on anything), and in most cases there was never any problem. And in some cases where somebody was upset about me out of whatever reason ... well, either we were able to communicate about this and to solve it, or not. If I can't change it, I accept it, too. What else?

In any case I'm conscious about one thing, because its a very simple truth: Everybody is his own one and only source of his thoughts, feelings and so on - somebody else or some situation may trigger from outside something in me, but I'm totally responsible for myself how I'm answering.

In my experience: Accept, respect and love yourself in all aspects in the first place. The rest follows on its own ...

"One sees clearly only with the heart. The essential is invisible to the eyes."
(Antoine de Saint-Exupéry)

BTW it seems (I have not yet studied it thoroughly) that this is confirmed by modern science, too (http://www.heartmath.com/company/proom/articles/noetic_science_shift.pdf), or, if you have much time, as a 70 page ebook: http://www.heartmath.org/templates/ihm/downloads/pdf/e-books/science-of-the-heart.pdf - just a few minutes ago I stumbled upon it.

"HER English ... SHE wouldn't ..."? Are you really talking about me? I'm male :-)

"... compared to Eolake's or Pascal's, it's not quite up to the same level."

Thanks for the feedback. I try my best by exercising. (One of the side-effects appreciated by me is that by reading and commenting here I stay in touch with English language.)
