Mountain goats on the Diga Del Cingino dam in Italy

It beggars belief what these fellers can climb on.

Once there was a silly old ram
Thought he'd punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin' that dam

But he's got high hopes, he's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie, in the sky hopes

My father bought a reel to reel tape recorder when they first became available — it replaced a wind up gramophone, so it was considered space age technology. The free tape provided by the vendor (this was before media piracy had been invented) held the Frank Sinatra version of that Sammy Cahn and James Van Heusen song, which is burned into my circuits from repeated playing.

Looking at the pictures of the goats on the dam, a single word comes to mind: "Why?"

Spiderman's got nothing on these goats!

I like how they're standing casually, too, like we all would if we were standing around on the street together.

Exactly. No drama whatsoever.

Tasty minerals + no predators = happy goats...

Yeah!

It is astounding, though, these fokkers are walking around on finger-wide ledges like it's a lawn.

I wonder how many of the goats slip and fall.....?
