Does the iPad Make Man Purses Okay Now?

Does the iPad Make Man Purses Okay Now?, article.
Pretty funny, but I wonder: what is all this obsession with appearing manly enough?
I say onto you: nobody is this modern world is manly, or at least have proof of it. If you don't have to hunt down your dinner and protect your family from sabretoothed tigers, you have not really had your manliness tested. The modern man is soft, live with it. So worrying about whether wearing sandals or a shoulder bag makes you look un-manly is idiotic.

By the way, it seems nobody has caught on yet, but we clearly need a belt clip/case for the iPad. Many professions, like doctors and scientists, are using iPhones, and iPads will be even better for them, so they need a way to carry them around. It's too big for a pocket, so when you don't need to carry anything else (to justify a shoulder bag), a belt clip is the thing.

Update:
Some men seem to think that apart from a rucksack or a sports bag there's no option for carrying things which will not make them feminine. I beg to differ, there are so many excellent choices for shoulder bags of all kinds. For example, I have one from Crumbler which is good looking, light weight, strong, and practical (pockets in various sizes and so on).

But there are so many things you "can't do" as a man. For example, notice that you never seen men walking around in pairs. Perhaps for fear of being taken for gay. Girls can walk in pairs, and a man can walk with his girlfriend or his family, or with a group of guys, but never in pairs.

It's not a shoulder bag... it's a haversack.

Fair enough.

I was thinking in more general terms. Some men seem to think that apart from a rucksack or a sports bag there's no option for carrying things which will not make them feminine. Question Everything:-

Why are we afraid of being taken for something we're not - or even for something we are? Are we a bunch of total nincompoops, or what?

What's happened to us since the days when Men were Men, and Gals were all naturally Double-breasted??

We're getting too cowardly for our own good, methinks.

I don't like your insinuation that I'm not fighting off sabre-toothed tigers every day. Hey, you don't know me!

Guy with iPad probably sissy anyway. Ugh!

My GOD! Why is it that comments like this always seem to emanate from someone who obviously has issues of their own that they should probably be more discrete about?

Men, real 'proper' men DO exist but are measured by us (women) in so many ways that are apparently alien to you!

Supporting a family, being supportive and faithful to a partner; spending time with the kids 'because they want to': ALL manly traits that are sometimes difficult to spot in modern society.
Being manly has NOTHING to do with behaving like a Neanderthal, swinging punches and intimidating others.
A girlfriend of mine, in her mid-20's is SO lucky, and knows it. She has a strong, gentle man who treats her properly for a husband, and her father is perhaps the most 'manly' guy I have ever known.
He's laid-back and relaxed, with a great sense of humour; I've often seen him wearing PINK leather shoes with faded jeans! I've never heard him raise his voice, even when pushed into conflict, yet bigger men walk away.
He raised his daughter alone, as a single parent (that takes a REAL man!), and now that she has flown the coop, he's the proud father of a new baby boy who was born 6 months after his 51st birthday!

Work it out! It's not THAT difficult, unless all of these things really ARE alien to you? :-)

I see that all the time, actually. I have until now never heard anyone suggest that was somehow gay. That's weird. Maybe it's some European thing, I don't know. They are not exactly known for their manliness, though.

God! I have an Overland shoulder bag (to carry phone, netbook, USB pen drive, kindle), I do wear sandals at all time when the weather allows, I have a couple of pinkish violet shirts, and I often walk in pairs with my friend Giorgio.

Now I understand why I'm not getting any girls! :-)

If you are also a nice guy and respect them, they are sure to think you're gay.
