in-ear-phones

What are some good, small, in-ear earphones for iPods and such?

Or maybe on-ear, but very compact and light.

Apple at least used to sell better quality ear buds in the Apple Store. Have you tried those?

The Pogue has written about this subject. He says his ears have no lobes, so regular buds don't stay in place for him. His solution is a different type of ear bud system that has a connecting frame.

Don't forget that loudspeakers are always more ergonomic and healthier than any type of earphones. Recording studio engineers practically never use earphones.

Yes, I have tried a couple of types from the Apple store, didn't notice much.

I don't like to use earphones for long anyway.

TCG, thanks. Which model do you use? They have a gazillion models.

Sennheiser CX300s. I've worn out one pair, and just went out and bought another. The sound quality is almost unparalleled for their price range, and they're quite comfortable as well.

Note they do have an asymmetrical headphone cord.

if the jury is still out on the subject, id heavily recommend hippo vbs: http://www.anythingbutipod.com/archives/2009/11/crossroads-mylarone-bijou-23-quattro-hippo-vb-hippo-boom-review.php is a review.
they arent exactly dirt cheap, but not expensive fare either. they definitely have awesome, filigrane sound (about two leagues minimum beyond skullcandies) and come with three sizes of silicone tips, but can be fitted with any kind of commonly sized in-ear tip. comply foam tips are said to be very comfortable.

i bought mine through uncle wilsons superstore (google knows) and had them shipped from korea to germany in 4 (four!!) days.

I've been happy with my Shure in ear phones for a number of years.

Quite a range of prices. I think you get what you pay for, up to a point.
