Smiling models

I just learned today from one of my photographers that it's no accident that my bigger competitors in the nudie-girly-site market have so few smiles in their photo sets... apparently they prefer it like that, and instruct the photographers to have few smiles in the shoots, and (I guess), more "sexy" expressions.

I really don't get that. For me, smiles are so important. A set without smiles is almost useless to me.

I wonder if a big section of the broad audience really need help by a "sexy" expression to find (upcoming Domai model) Laura here sexy? I sure don't.

Not everyone considers the same look sexy. Most of Domai's viewership probably think smiling girls are sexy, and those girls are on Domai because Big E. thinks smiling girls are sexy. It's a selection effect, me thinks.

Doubtlessly there's something to that.
Though I would point out that I don't select smiles because that's what I find sexy. I select smiles because I find them pleasant and wonderful.
It's a spiritual/human attraction. The sexual attraction is pretty automatic, you don't have to work on it, is what I'm saying.

Nope, like you, I much prefer to see a smile over a "sexy" look.

Sexy look? Not that I have taken a comprehensive survey, but those sexy looks usually don't look sexy to me. There are exceptions, but non-smiling models, clothed or not, usually look like one of: 1) pouting, 2) ennui, 3) disinterest, 4) anger, or 5) blank (as though saying "I'm not really here)... or so it seems to me, anyway.

Exactly.
And often they end up fish-faced with their open mouths.

I think a couple days ago I discovered the most vulgar and stereotypical porn clip I had ever seen (at least in the "claccic sex" genre). Once I find the time and how to do it, I´ll be blogging its sound track, just for fun.

Smiling is perhaps half of a woman´s sexiness to me. In part overlapping with personality.
Ladies, the shortest way to my heart (okay, the SECOND shortest, after "straight through the ribcage" ;-) is to make me laugh. With you, not at you. So this excludes Aunt Sarah Palin. ;-p

People always seem more attractive when smiling.

I think it goes further than the smile. I've been a fan of Domai for a looong time and I've been pondering why some models and photographers are remarkably memorable - such as Rustam Koblev and most of his models, especially Mariah; Philippe Carly, Charles Hollander (& Esp. Judit); Viktoria Sun. Setting aside my personal preferences, the models all have a relationship with the camera - photographer - viewer, and the photographer is *involved* with the model - not just taking a picture. It is more than a smile, but the smile is where it all starts.

Thanks, Mark.

I get many more submissions than I can buy, so I have to reject a lot of perfectly decent work. And it's sometimes hard to explain why I do so. But a lot of work and models have no real flaws, but they just don't "involve" me.

I think the gurl's breasts have been deliberately cropped off.

You think so, huh? :-)

I don't want to be censured by readers/blogger, so people will have to go through an "adult" filter to get into this blog.

It's why I continue to come to DOMAI. You can find pictures of beautiful women anywhere on the internet. Finding beautiful women simply being beautiful, and not trying to be "sexy" (and very in-your-face about it) is incredibly difficult.

In DOMAI, I find beautiful pictures of beautiful scenery wherein stand beautiful women who are proud of their beauty. And I'll keep coming back for more as long as you keep providing it.

Laura's smile is gorgeous. Met-Art and Femjoy can have good things, but I've always wished they would have more smiling models.

Big E, I love your site and your thoughts.. Smiles are great but it's the eyes! If the eyes are happy, thoughtful, introspective, soulful then its a slam dunk. I find I like scenes of repose as much as smiles...and I do love smiles.

A smile means the model is happy in her work, having fun, not hung up about posing nude.
Some models can do sexy looks very well, others don't have a clue and end up looking miserable or just plain weird; but that is the fault of the photographer for not telling her, not the model.
However, smiles must be genuine, fake insincere smiles (with the mouth but not the eyes) that appear all too often on certain US sites are a total fail.

Depends on what you mean by "sexy." The girls at DOMAI may not be ready for intercourse, but they seem to be having a good time just being nude. They're enjoying themselves - their bodies, the open air, their awareness of their own beauty. It's an inviting look. If it's not sexy in the commercial sense, so be it. It's fun, at least.

I believe the reason people come to domai is that they're looking for beauty - not sexy. Those are two different concepts for a reason. If we seek beauty and end up finding sexy as well, that's just a fortunate (to my mind) by-product. Most online sites go for the sex(y) and sacrifice beauty as a result.

I could describe it as the difference between something you would hang on your wall, and something you would just look at on your computer while you pleasure yourself.

Thank you, Eolake, for making beauty a priority.

Some may not believe but one of the first things I notice is the face. And I like a smile. A "pouty" face just looks like the girl ate a whole lemon.
Keep the smiles coming!
