As far as...

Here's a funny little thing... you have the expression, for example:
"... as far as the colors go, you have three options, white, black, or blue."

But recently, everybody is dropping the "go", they say:
"as far as the colors, you have three options..."

To me it's obviously incomplete, but since I've been noticing it for a few weeks, every single person (at least a dozen) I've heard use the phrase have used it sans the "go". Trez bizarre, as Finns say.

Language is (should be) a living thing.
No longer do you hear "a couple of hours later", but "a couple hours later".

Besides, anyone complaining about changes in the language is in danger of sounding like a Prince Charles type crank.

I laughed at a heading on the menu in my local chipper: "Other Eats". This was probably an American import. The Russians working in the place didn't know there was anything funny about it. Strange thing is, it could well become an accepted use of the word 'eats' in due course.
