The Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Versus… a Two-Year-Old Pocket Camera

The Zeiss Otus 85mm f/1.4 Versus… a Two-Year-Old Pocket Camera, article and photos.

So how much more detail do you really gain when you choose one of the world's finest and most expensive lenses (over four grand) and high resolution cameras, over a (admittedly good one) $600 pocket camera?

I agree with many people who think we are now at a time in the camera marketplace where Good Enough wins!

I just took a picture of the road outside my window with a small Panasonic, lit by streetlights. Exposure: 1/5 second at f/4, ISO 1600. Too slow to stop movement. With the Otus I could have set 1/20 second at f/2, and probably (since it will be on a full frame DSLR) 1/40 second or faster at a higher ISO. That's the reason for wanting an Otus, not how it performs at f/5 in daylight.
