SF city

Thanks to Norm  for sending me this wallpaper art.
Andreas found the artist via TinEye: Staszek Marek. It has different sizes (I got one for my Cinema Display, perhaps the size reads the screen size of the visitor.)

I have always been fond of SF imagery, especially urban. As an example, my favorite part of the fourth Star Wars movie (Phantom Menace) was the great city scenes, like the street view with the café.

Someone sat down and said: Hmm, I think I'll do some modeling today.

"TinEye!" There it is! Thanks, Andreas! I keep forgetting the name of that site! :-/

I too keep forgetting TinEye, thanks.

Ah, biiiig version.

Just a wee bit modeling today, methinks. Jeepers.

Not allowed to download it, it seems, so screen shot will have to do.

... Yes, one must wonder how many man- and machine-hours did this take?

Timo Lehtinen said...

Not necessarily that many machine-hours, I think, with today's 'puters. But arse-hours, now that's a different matter.

People who do a lot of modeling say it is fun, though. Not unlike crocheting, knitting and things of that nature.

Did you see his modelled horse statues etc?

Eolake Stobblehouse said...

Yeah. While the city held more immediate interest for me, it's also interesting how different his works are, very different styles indeed.

Why not interview him for your blog and ask what tools he is using, and how many hours it took to create the city?

The croc is amazing technically. And the horse statue, I'd think it was a photo. Good work.

Since I first started thinking about 3D art in the nineties, I've had this idea about an angel statue in a garden, I hope some day I'll get to do it. Or maybe get help.

Hmm, I could try.

I was just looking @ that horse statue: A-MAZING! And, yes, I have to agree w/you, Eo; looks like a fricken photo it's that GORGEOUS and I, now, also, want to know what software he is using!!!!!

Good idea re: Eo interviewing him, Timo! :-)

(Oh yeah...Eo...would be COOL to see your "vision" get "hammered out" w/whatever software needed! I say "go for it, Dood!" :-D

What program is used to create this stuff?

Eolake Stobblehouse said...

Dunno. I've asked the guy for an interview, but so far no answer.

Blender, maybe?

SF cities always look really nice, but then the insides of the buildings are inevitable made up out of nothing but hallways, corridors, doors and some more hallways. I wonder why that is.

Hah, yeah.

Well, there is at least one apartment in Bladerunner. Though the walls are very odd.
