Union “One Day” NSFW

This semi-nude video is really just another semi-edgy look-at-me fashion production. Only I noticed that the model looks like she has not slept for three days and three nights, if not weeks.  I wonder if they meant for her to look like that? You never know with these fashion freaks, after all they had the whole "heroin chic" thingy for a while, good grief.
"At the time during which heroin chic emerged, the popular image of heroin was changing for several reasons. The price of heroin had decreased, and its purity had increased dramatically."

Yipee, wow, cheap and pure heroin, yep, time for the higher classes to broaden their addiction horizons! I guess all the celebrities it killed only increased the cool-appeal.

Bowie has tried his share of drugs, lord knows, but I read him saying he never tried "horse" because he was just scared shitless of the stuff. And I can see that, I read stories from when several members of The Stooges were on H, and it seemed like it just is nigh-impossible to ever get out of again.
And the movie Gridlock'd paints a livid picture of what life is like for some addicts. It also has action and some (very dark) humor, but the naked starvation for more Stuff is striking.

---
By the way, talking about somewhat milder addictions, it seems to me it demands some of that to want to stand in line to pay four bucks or whatever for a cup of coffee in a take-away cup. For me, if I cough up the dough for a real cappuccino in a coffeehouse, I want to sit down for twenty minutes with some light reading and really get the most of it. If I just need to quiet down the jitters on my way to work, heck I might as well just waffle down a spoonful of instant coffee powder! (Ever try that? omg.) Much cheaper.       :-)

It's not very charitable, I know, but I can't help but feel that the people who die as a result of drug use / abuse are somehow leaving behind a stronger, better gene pool.

Haha, oh my!
I can see your viewpoint, but for me somehow, it does not seem like weakness is necessary to become addicted, some very powerful and influential people have had equally powerful addictions, from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's famous opium addiction and forward.

I agree, weakness is not neccesarily a prerequisite to addiction, but look around and we ARE surrounded by powerful, influential people who have been destroyed by their weaknesses, whether those weaknesses be drugs, alcohol, money, a penchant for little boys, gambling, whatever.
The unfortunate angle from their perspective is that they are often in the public eye because of their perceived virtues, so 'dirty washing' is frequently made public!

There's an addiction gene involved...addiction isn't always all about mental weakness or a lack of willpower. So even if those people with the gene die from their disease, they could leave children behind carrying the same gene. It's a very complex topic.

"they could leave children behind carrying the same gene"

- which is probably the saddest aspect of all, and one I could likely get quite angry about.
Talk about robbing a child of their innocence?!!!
Better stop, can feel a rant approaching:-)

We could start a support group:
Early Euthanasia For Children Of Addicts.

I think we have ALL been "robbed of our innocence:" there ain't a ONE of us born w/a perfect gene pool...unfortunately! If peeps stopped to ponder that thought, they'd probably wear a rubber and forego having children all together! Unfortunately, however, all of us are selfish and would like to have our own children to enjoy rather than adopting someone else's "gene pool"! And "some of us" just don't think...with the "proper" head, before "monkeying" around as it is and don't think past that, uh, "point!" :-/

... Note: "just a joke, to be taken in context only".

Having the gene doesn't automatically make them addicts - just more likely so. It's not an uncommon thing, odds are one of us has it.

The real scourge is unwanted children. For a variety of reasons, they're causing most of the trouble once they grow to adulthood.

I can't tell if you're joking or not,but I'm a bit skeptical that any of the Stooges would have taken it. IF any, it would have been Curly, though, I think.

P.S. My w.v. word is "dingis" -Nelson Muntz's favorite word - not to be confused with his favorite expression Smell Ya Later.

Smell ya later!

Ah, you're pleased to jest. Iggy's band, not the comedy team.
