Elton and photography
Redeeming himself, Elton John appreciates photography. I also saw him in a documentary about Björk, praising her music highly. Kudos to him for that, how often do you see big stars go out of their way to praise smaller stars?
I think the big stars are rightly wary of picking a one-hit wonder and turning him or her into an "undeserving" phenomenon bigger than what he or she would have been or might have "deserved." Elton John got to be big and famous by MAKING music, not by APPRECIATING other people's music. The role of critic bears some weight of responsibility.
Elton John made a fortune and a contrived star status writing 3 minute hits, in his own words, "five minutes." He has contributed little of significance. Bjork is an experimental musician, whose explorations into different sounds, techniques, instrumentation, already leave the opinionated old queen a dated has been whose opinion is worthless.

Here's an interesting koan:
If Elton John's opinion is worthless, does that mean that Björk is a bad musician?
