I beg to differ. On the *surface*, Gilmore Girls is a "girly" show or whatever. But it is fast-pace, very, very witty, and the characters are complex and evolving. The visuals are beautiful. And the cast is perfect, wonderful actors.
It's amazing how a show/movie mocking superficial people by satiric imitation will get criticized precisely for portraying superficial people.
A very talented local actor created -among other ones- the persona of Mrs Fadia Al-Sharraqa, typical lebanese rich lady. I heard people around ve saying they didn't like "her" because "she's too vulgar". Well, as David Letterman Jr would say: "DUH!" If she weren't vulgar, she wouldn't be a satire. :-)
I also heard a rumor that BrĂ¼no might be gay. Gee, who'd'a thunk?!?!!? :o)
Just for the record, the main characters on the show are anything but superficial. In fact one of the outstanding features of the show is the thick flow of culture references, films, movies, music. And they have really good taste too.
I am all caught up on Gilmore Girls, thanks to ABC Family. Who knows how much they edited out, but now I love this show, which I once ridiculed as many of the commenters have on this post.

Hey, a 6 year-old child could understand it. :-)
"Somebody fetch me 6 year-old child!" - (Groucho Marx)
not very funny, they need to cancel that candy-laced show.
