Daylight Forum

My pal Greg is attempting to bring discussion of the issues of the day to the people with the Daylight Forum. See this video.
I try to stay out of politics, I don't like it, but Greg is a very convincing man, so I have helped with funding of his book and the site.

I don't like all the scandals in politics but if I didn't stand for something then I'd fall for anything.
I campaigned for Senator Kerry and Governor-Elect Strickland of Ohio (who won by a landslide) and even met him.
Trust me, the people DO need to get invovled, it's their country too. One voice can change a world.

Ed Zacchary.

I've long believed that the real change comes by spirituality, art, and philosophy. And science.

Same here, Eolake. Science has altered my perception of this world completely.

Lucid's heartfelt comments are precisely why I wrote "ResoNation," and then a dedicated group of us grew that concept into the DayLightForum.org. People are truly apathetic. A possible cure is the DayLightForum.org's National Heat Map. It will put your vote and my vote up on a map in a visually powerful manner that will give that single vote much more power and influence over elected officials who will either respond to such a powerful visual display of the people's will, or they can ignore it at their peril come the next election.

"I don't even see a real difference between the two main parties."
Oh, but there is. A big difference. The names of the people in the shadows getting their pockets full when a given party is in power!

"government. It's an institution which now lives to perpetuate itself rather than serve the people."
Well, my friend, NOW you've got real-life Politics all figured out! You see? It wasn't that complicated after all, just needed a little... lucidity! ;-)
It's not useless, it's just useful to itself, 'tis all.

"I think I'll seek to effect change via other mechanisms instead."
But remember, terrorism is not the way either. ;-)

"I've long believed that the real change comes by spirituality, art, and philosophy. And science."
It definitely won't come from maintained ignorance!

Agreed. There is a huge difference on issues and certain agendas. Most people that I often hear complaining are the ones that don't vote.
"Tell the people a few sweet lies and go about your business" seems to be the order of most politicians. Nothing ever really gets accomplished. It's a lot of bickering and re-arranging of policies for no reason. (Lucid said)
Things do eventually get done Lucid. Do you ever watch C-Span or read the newspapers? If you don't than I can understand why you assume nothing ever gets done.
Sure, politics are flawed, but if no one attempts to alter laws for the better than do we let our world run amok?
I don't want to live in a MadMax Movie. I'm amazed by your response. Perhaps when you grow a little older you'll understand the need. (No offense please)

Well, I was pleasantly surprised when Governor Schwarzenegger decided to apply the Kyoto Protocol guidelines in his State. It even made me respect him again. Sometimes, the interests of politicians include satisfying the public's opinion on important issues. Maybe this is how the world managed to evolve, in the time lapse between two fortuitous sincere people like Gandhi or Mandela?
If such is the case, it means we have to constantly hound our "representatives" to make sure they'll represent us!
(Sigh) Aah, to see Lebanon some day become one of the REAL countries where such a thing is possible...

"there are ways to impact this world besides voting and politics."
Sure. Including Guevara's method, to name but one. ;-)
But since the politics/voting system is so well established, and usually one of the least bad systems that can work rather reasonably (compared to anarchy à la Mad Max or dictatorship à la Kim-Jong-Il), we should try to use it, at least in a spirit of efficiency. It DOES work, sometimes.
