Shatner: 'Star Trek' is way better than 'Star Wars'

Better? I'm not sure - depends on what qualities you are measuring. But I do think he has a valid point that there was more emphasis on story/plot and human beings coping in Star Trek. Perhaps because they did have, ummh, minimal special effects.
In Star Wars, the most "human" characters were the droids and most of the key main characters had "super" powers (the force). The core plot line is one used many times in many ways. The special effects were great though
