Barbie turns fifty

This has probably been around for a while, since Barbie turned fifty in 2009.
Hey, did you know her full name is "Barbara Millicent Roberts"? Holy cow.

I'm always fascinated by megahits like Barbie or Harry Potter. What exactly makes the difference which takes something from Successful to World Domination? Sure, good marketing and such things matter, but there must be something in the Common Public Mind... an archetype they just exactly fit, or something.

I'm not sure I'd like a hit *that* big. Debbie Harry once sang: "I'll take the money, you can have the fame". Imagine the pressure from all sides JK Rowling must be under. Just for instance, no matter what or how good her next book is, if any ever, there will be thousands of people cutting it down just because it's not Harry Potter.

Oh...was that how Debbie Harry came to be featured, tonight? :-) Were you looking for the song w/the lyrics you wrote about?

"Imagine the pressure from all sides JK Rowling must be under. Just for instance, no matter what or how good her next book is, if any ever, there will be thousands of people cutting it down just because it's not Harry Potter."

Wasn't she accused of plagerism, at one point, too? Peeps are always trying to cut others down to size or feeling threatened by others' accomplishments. They just need to get a life! Comparison is an ugly game many of us get caught up in, as well. All these rotten human conditions! :-(

'What the World Needs Now....' :-D
