artificial libertarian islands

Silicon Valley billionaire funding creation of artificial libertarian islands, article.

That should be interesting. Is a human Utopia really possible?

Maybe, but certainly not one based on the idiocy that is Libertarianism.

No, human Utopia is not possible. But you can weed out the ideas that have been tried, and which have invariably failed and led to all sorts of horrors, for thousands of years. Like The State.

The next best thing to Utopia is Libertopia. Negative comments there won't be deleted, but they will be ignored (other than being used for fodder for future posts, perhaps). So, don't bother, Anonymous FanBoy. ;)

Anyone posting to something like "Libertopia" is already too far gone to listen to reason, so I doubt I'd bother posting there anyway. (It's funny, though, Kent. These days the only time you ever post is in response to my comments. Who's the fanboy?)

Libertarians are the same morons who were into Communism a hundred years ago. It's an idea that, like Communism, ignores facts of human nature and isn't rational.

That island will probably be a good place to go to take in some monkey knife fights. It will be a bit like Deadwood. Eventually it will crash and burn, but it will be a hell of a toboggan ride.

Well, in the case of US of A it worked. For a while, at least.

Dave, I agree actually, that might happen. I think the best bet against it would be the high expense of getting there in the first place. Few thugs are rich, and those who are, have had to learn to at least pretend to civilisation.

One of the best things I've read recently about why one particular person is a libertarian: I don't know, so I'm an atheist libertarian

Atheism is rational, Libertarianism is not. Few people would say that our current system of government is anywhere near perfect, but lawless anarchy is no solution. Libertarianism is for the weak minded, or the idealistic (usually those two go together). It just doesn't hold up. I like Penn Jillette but sometimes he's just full of shit.

Libertopia appears to be one of those places where like minded guys go to (metaphorically) suck each others dicks. They only want comments from fell yes men.

Kind of reminds me of Springfield's "Do What You Feel" festival.

Who knows. Until then...this might kill some time! ;-)
