Lauren Ambrose

Lauren Ambrose, the latest in the long line of actresses I pine after.
(Six Feet Under, Can't Hardly Wait (which I really like).)

A beautiful redhead. And unlike Lindsay Lohan, she is not ashamed of it.
Okay, I don't know that ms Lohan is ashamed of it, but I have a hard time forgiving her for bleaching her gorgeous red hair. What a crime, such a rare color.

Lohan does seem to be ashamed of it. She was ashamed of her freckles. She said in an interview that she hoped they would fade as her mother's did.

Well spotted. Miss Ambrose is absolutely lovely indeed.
And I loved Lindsay's extraordinary hair color the moment I first saw her as a child in a movie. So sad. An' she hated her freckles? That's crazy talk, woman! Ah mean, wassup wid dat?!?
Another sad case of anti-red "racism" in anglo-saxon countries. In the Middle Ages, such hair color was considered a stigma, the mark of the Demon and witchcraft.
Another consequence of the rampant progress of bigotry?...

"I'm a superb dickhead, and unlike Tony Blair, I'm not ashamed of it." - (Bobby Mugabe, apocryphal)

It's most likely just due to the rarity. If people with brown hair accounted for at least 2 percent of the world's population they probably would be seen the same way. It's odd that the place where redheads are most common (the UK and Ireland) are where they're most reviled. Even in North America there is some of that feeling. I had a friend way back who seemed ashamed of it, and some non-redheads were ashamed of their freckles. Weird.

I've always wanted to be a redhead! I got mouse brown instead. I always found red hair to be gorgeous, especially when the sun lights it up with copper highlights. I'll never dye mine though as dyes never look natural to me.

Natural redheads hate it when people do that anyway! Besides, the red hair and the pale skin and freckles are a package. Unless you're a daywalker, where you can have red hair but not the rest of it. Now those people are freaks! ;-)

Good point. It's probably a kind of litmus test of people's basic personality, how they feel about a minority so small that it can safely be hated.

And thinking about it, it could be that if black hair was that rare, I'd have a fetish about it.

Epona,
This is in part the reason for Henna use.
In the "Orient", meaning the arab world, redheads are a very popular fetish! Even more than blondes. The political dissident in Rabbi Jacob has a very openly assumed thing for redheads. Great movie. (GO WATCH IT)

This is probably only for redhead women, though. I've never heard of any women having a thing for redhaired guys.

There are red haired *guys*??

So I hear. Might be a legend.

*All things Red-hair* here. Some interesting facts (and myths). I had wondered about their susceptiblity to skin cancers (the freckles didn't look *healthy* to me)...of which, it turns out (sadly), they are highly. :-(

Personally, red-haired men have never much caught my attention but...I will have to admit that Kevin McKidd is growing on me on Grey's Anatomy! Or...perhaps it could be those durn blue eyes...or the kissin' scenes! lol!

I've never thought there was anything unhealthy looking about freckles.

I was looking over the info from the link you provided. I wouldn't mind the "highly sexed" part.

I don't need the info. I said that I didn't think freckles looked unhealthy.

Well, my Father's a proud Anglo redhead - with tons of freckles. Remembers being called "Carrot top!" and some anti-Irish stuff too.

My Mother's Chinese, and they had to slog through tons of racism from both sides and society just to go out (Dad was born in 1949)
So Mom definitely likes redheads. Both were born in Canada.

Me, I got natural copper-red highlights from Dad in my Chinese Raven-black hair. You can only see them in the right light, close up. I would rather they be far more distinct, but dyeing seems so artificial.

As a child enduring racism at school and in society, I once said "Waah! - I don't wanna be Chinese!", so I understand how some redheads feel about fitting in.

Truth be told, redheads are the most saught after woman by ALL men! That is why there are scientist working around the clock to clone Neanderthal genes, so as to splice the redhair, fair skin and freckle gene into individuals to keep up the redhead gene pool! Good luck because all the redhead women I know are married up and I wana find one for myself!
Lauren Ambrose by the way is the most beatiful of redhead actresses I've seen yet!-And she's married darn it!

Yeah, but have you seen Julianne Moore? I just saw her on 30Rock, 50 and still hot as heck.

(Oh, and nekkid in Shortcuts.)
