I had asked about metal blinds, but the thing about those is that while they do reflect a lot of light, they also heat up, so they convert a lot of the energy into infrared light going into the room. So they are not at all as effective as these.

They are a bit more expensive, but I forget how much.

We supply both vertical and roller blinds in reflective fabrics - Rayban, Solex and Parasol ranges.
We're in the middle of a website redesign at the moment and the existing site doesn't have these fabrics listed, but we can be contacted via our website here.
A 1 metre by 1 metre vertical blind in reflective fabric would be £42 including postage or, for a roller blind, £46.

How do they (vertiacally slatted) compare as a dust trap with say Venitian blinds? I put the curtains in the washing machine once a year, and cut my fingers cleaning the aluminum mini-blinds about as often. I don't know how much TLC VS blinds take, but I want some, especially since I didn't get the thermal double glazing upgrade when the airport put it in.

I've had the verticals for maybe two years now. They don't seem to me to be collecting any dust. Certainly nothing like horizontal ones.
Vertical blinds are generally less of a dust trap than venetians, really because the horizontal surface of a venetian is prone to collecting more dust as it settles.

Yeah, when we moved in the neighbourhood was undergoing a noise abatement program. After just getting the house I couldn't stretch to the thermal upgrade on the double glazing. The deal was the airport has to put in adequate soundproofing in the form of now vent caps (foul pipe, extractor hoods, etc), double glazed windows and skylights etc.
Since the ducting was being re-worked the community had bargained for thermostat upgrades too. The make good included exterior paint, our house is stuccoed (rendered).
They still have to start on terminal 3, but the last few years we haven't heard planes inside unless the windows are open, and the heating bill has dropped. Just the summer sun is a bit hot.

I've seen VS blinds at work, and never new if the cleaner snook in every month, or the just stayed cleaner. The coarser texture would have made me expect dust, but they may have anti-static properties too.
