I have been looking for something like this Danish Foods site.
Something tells me it is not founded by Danes, though: the front page features tulips and windmills! ROTFL. They even promote that they sell clogs.
For those who may be confused: tulips and windmills and clogs are used to represent Holland. Denmark would be... I guess the Little Mermaid.

The only problem is that most people probably associate The Little Mermaid with Disney...
Holland is properly called The Netherlands, too, I think; Holland is only one part of it.
Maybe the Jelling Stones would be emblematic of Denmark? Or the 'Great Belt? I always think of the little mermaid though and we have a 9" statue of her in our bathroom. :o)
Well they did specify Danish clogs; though I suppose they could use Hamlet to describe the goodly prison of Denmark.
Holland is properly associated with Dennis Bergkamp. Denmark is properly associated with Peter Schmeichel. Each wears a hot color because the women look like they can be cold, but most of them really aren't. And both have a very high standard of happiness, despite having lower gross national products than many nations nearby, and despite relatively high taxation rates. We could learn a lot from either, we in the USA.
Which reminds me, Eolake. Why did you choose to move to Britain if Denmark was such an easy option for you?
After I started to earn good money, they started to demand 68% in taxes.

And here I am trying to get to an enlightened country like Denmark. :) I want sensible stuff: access to health care at a decent price, less urban street crime, maybe some people who are literate because they graduate from high school, you know ... not to mention a soccer game or two. I would also very much appreciate a group of attractive female humans who had a little bit less of a prissy, mercenary, meretricious attitude toward sexuality. But noooo ... you gotta go ruin it all for me ...

Yes, but everything's paid for, right? I mean, univerity's free, I assume there's free health care...
Health care is free.
But only number 34 on the World Health Organization's quality list.
I don't think University is free.
Interesting thoughts on this aspect of there being a flip side to everything. There's good and bad in every system, I guess the proportions of good and bad vary in proportion to your World view and current state of being.
Mrs Wonko and I are seriously considering moving to New Zealand. Now there's a tenuous link to The Netherlands!
The Netherlands is such a beautiful country! Road surfaces in general are very smooth, not as bumpy as here in Germany (where even Motorways boast potholes).
And the tiny clean colourful houses!
And the windmills!
And all the genius constructions around the water! And the boats!
And how they like to hear a German speak Dutch! Generally they like Germans, but not from the heart. The past (WW2) still stands between the two countries, no wonder.
Even so the Dutch are attracted by a hilly region here in Germany called the Sauerland, only to get some diversion from their flat tabletop country.

Me, I could not imagine living so far from Europe.
There's a new law in France (I'm not sure it's already applied, though), that says that from now on you cannot get taxed over 50% of your gross income. Otherwise you get a refund for the difference.
Made some people whine that it was "a gift to the wealthy", but I think this issue needs to be addressed otherwise. I find the principle excellent. No less than half of what you earn should be yours!
CEO's arbitrarily setting their own salaries with obscene figures can be dealt with a specific law about SALARIES, not income taxation. And with similar or better results.
I realized at one point that progressive taxation is not oppression by the tax men, but oppression by the majority. It's simply ten people living in a commune, one person earns more, and the nine others vote that he should contribute more!
I don't know, I heard from this Danish girl that university (or any higher education for that matter) was free, but then she may have been talking out of her ass.
