Piers Anthony

It's been a while since I read any of Piers Anthony's books, but I read several of his INCARNATIONS OF IMMORTALITY Series once, and he is good, and thoughtful.
He's got a kool newsletter, which I found now because Hannah revealed that she found my other site Domai through it. I had not heard of that nice mention.

It was actually me that told Piers Anthony of Domai. I accept all blame. ;)

Nice, thanks.

He mentions a Steve in that newsletter, but he does not say who you are... ?

LOL I learned so much from Piers Anthony, why not about Domai? :) And it was actually just a chance mention, I don't actually regularly read his newsletter, though I love his books - and he's the only author whose author's notes I'll read.

And once again... it's a small world / after all / it's a small world / after all / it's a small world / after all / it's a small, small world!

Just a reader who responded to one of his last newsletters. I can't remember the exact reason why I threw Domai in there; I believe it was because he was mentioning nudity or at least his appreciation of the female form.

Piers Anthony has always appreciated the female form, that's something that's come through in... every single book of his that I can think of. Though one of his puns books (Xanth) was based on the mystery of panties on women.......

I am confused, I thought Xanth was one of those insufferable endless fantasy worlds?

Well, I only consider it insufferable after about the 15th book. Apparently they're up to something like 35 now, but I haven't read them. One of the last books I read, the Color of Her Panties (link)
is about how a merwoman decides (I don't remember why) that she wants panties. But as she's naked now, she's not part of the Adult Conspiracy. The entire book bases itself on her quest to get panties and what this changes about her - as if you have panties, you're not allowed to show them.

Not all of Xanth was totally whimsical. Some parts make interesting points. Though I think my favorite series is the Incarnations one. Or Tarot.

Yes, per his book list there is 31 books in the Xanth series only.

I am astounded! Who can write that much?!
If you do it for the creativity, it can't possibly be good all of it. Or it would kill you.
If you do it for money, that seems like a LOT of work!

I think Xanth is for money, now, though his very first published book was Spell for Chameleon, the first Xanth book. He also mentions it a lot in his author's notes: Xanth just sells better than his other fiction. The other 70 or so books are much more serious and well thought out or are collaberations.

I read my first Xanth book at age 10 or so - my parents weren't around much and I still sort of think that I took a lot of my morals and examples from his books. Though I was smart enough to realize what was just fluff. :) I think without having grown up with the Incarnations and Xanth and such, I might have turned out differently.
