Bored much?

"If you’ve been told that you get bored easily because you're lazy or there’s something wrong with you, it's important to realize that the contrary is probably true. The ability to be comfortable with rote tasks where there is nothing new to learn is uncommon in people with above-average intelligence."

A lot of interesting thinking can be done when you're bored. Boredom from rote tasks has been very useful to me.

I'll choose to take that as a positive comment. ;-)

Besides, touchiness can be soooo boring! :-P

I remember the first time I went to a "career day" at my old high school, there were all sorts of people who touted the value of "drudgery." The women doctors were the worst -- they said with very strident voices, "If you can't put up with the BAD PART then you don't DESERVE to be a DOCTOR."

I just wondered why they were deliberately courting a bad life. They seemed so proud of themselves, for having done some set of things that most people found distasteful to the point of avoidable. I guess, they got their eventual reward -- they got to lord it over High School kids about how important it was to be a drone. Gosh golly wish *I'd* been able to do that ...

It's all about replicating the system, isn't it? Pedants and drones holler lots about how the rest of us aren't trying hard enough to be pedants and drones ...

Say, are you related to my good buddy Final Fantasy?
