Nikon D80 revisited

There's been some added discussion and experiences on the two-year-old post about the Nikon D80. I still think it's an excellent camera. In fact even the smaller D60 is quite camera enough for me. Only caveat is that probably a replacement for the D80 is due any day, and that one may have better high-ISO performance (less grain in the pictures in low light), at least if Nikon incorporates the advancements evident in the pro cameras recently.

I reawakened the thread while trying to decide if I wanted a D80 or D60, or something else.

I now have a D80 and am very happy with it.

Hmm, D80 problem.

I have always kept my camera lens down in a bag. I grab it by spanning my hand across the back of the camera, and lifting it out. This avoids mashing buttons and such, and pulls the camera out evenly, unlike grabbing by one end of the strap.

The D80 is my first SLR (1st in 4) that has a door on the side which opens by sliding it towards the back. Consequently I keep opening my camera when I try to pull it from the bag.

Sure a little training and I'll be okay, but I don't want to break the camera while I'm learning...

Otherwise, no obvious problems yet.
