Making a good digital camera
One would think that a popular digital cameras enter their second decade, it would by now be pretty trivial to make one of those and get it to make good pictures. But it seems not.

Analog to digital conversion is one of the most difficult engineering tasks -- whether it be from sound or light.
Given this, I am quite amazed by the fact that cheap HD camcorders are now possible, and have just come available.
