Beware of too much laughter, for it deadens the mind and produces oblivion.
-- The Talmud
I don't think I've ever seen a quote which was more wrong!
Laughter is about the healthiest thing there is, and apart from laughing so hard you crack a rib (which is possible), I don't see how it can be anything else. :)

Oh, laughter can be a most terrible and dangerous weapon!
Against theocracies and other totalitarian systems...
The Talmud isn't even the founding religious text (which itself is in need to be objectively debated, along with its true origins), but just the "wisdom of the clergy an theologists". I'd put on any such text an advisory : "Caution : can be awfully hazardous to your mind and sense."
To the defense of the Talmud, it is not at all considered a "fixed" text. From what I know, it is MEANT to evolve constantly with time.
Besides, who more than a jew knows how to live self-derision?
:-)
I know one truly harmful form of laughter, and that's stupid or mean mockery. But it's a matter of quality, not quantity!
depends upon what your laughing at.
beware of what and who you are laughing about.
a word to the wise......the tongue is sharper than any sword.
take caution at what you find humor in.
A good laugh is the best medicine.
It is so relaxing and venting.
CAUTION: Beware of possible cramps in your sixpack :-)))

What was the movie wherein Ed Wynn levitated by laughing?
Laughing not only lifts your spirits. It lifted his whole bod.
"What was the movie wherein Ed Wynn levitated by laughing?"
Wasn't that in Mary Poppins? A masterpiece!
I still have that "chim-chiminey" tune dancing (chiming?) in my mind.
