Gosh-darn it, I always wanted a one-kilo notebook. For one thing, I like writing in cafes, but a three-kilo machine you don't bring along unless you're really sure you need it.
Apple just cancelled their smallest and lightest notebook. I really hope they plan to introduce a new one soon, even smaller and lighter, otherwise I will have to buy a Windoze machine, ouch. Like this Panasonic R5. Just one kilo! And it comes in eleven different colors!

I find that the best computer for writing in cafés, and for similar uses, is the PSION NetBook (the original one with EPOC OS, not the newer "Netbook Pro" with Windows CE – yuck!)
In fact, in many ways it is the greatest computer ever. No moving parts (fans or disks), 1100 g, low power, 100% quiet, dream keyboard, touch sensitive screen (with pen), clampshell design, leather surface, etc.
Sadly, it is no longer being manufactured. But eBay is your friend.

Is it easy to get documents from the PSION NetBook to a Macintosh?
I'm not the best person to answer this as I transfer my PSION files directly to my Linux server. (I am a Mac user also, but don't use my Macs for these kinds of tasks.)
But briefly: there's two ways (1) over the Ethernet, and (2) by unplugging the CF card from the NetBook and plugging it into your Mac.
There's also an unofficial tool called Psion Link which works over a simple serial cable, and reportedly makes it even easier.
But, as I said, I haven't used any of the above methods, so caveat emptor etc.
