Crop Circles

We don't know much about crop circles. In the early nineties it was "exposed" (oddly enough in all the major newspapers on the same day...) that they were frauds, merely man-made. But that exposure has since been exposed itself, the people who supposedly made the formations could not explain how they did it, or indeed replicate it.
And since then, "crop circles" have grown wildly beyond mere circles and become amazingly complex and huge mathematical works of art appearing mysteriously in crops around the world, though mostly in England.

They are often hundreds of feet across, and contains hundreds of elements, precisely aligned after complex mathematics. And they appear usually in one short summer night. They have no footprints in them. And they often have strange magnetic phenomena within the formation.

Me, I don't know who makes them. Aliens? Spirits? Humans with secret technology? In any case they are really beautiful and compelling, and a strong witness that there is more under the heavens than we know.

Steve Alexander (Temporary Temples) is perhaps the best photographer of this phenomenon. He publishes a beautiful booklet every year with pictures of the circles. The books are really high quality, warmly recommended.
Steve does not normally give out high-rez versions of his pictures, but with my legendary charm and a promise of a link on this blog, I talked him into letting me share a few with you. They are big files, but worth the download. Enjoy.

Wow, they really are beautiful.

I wonder if you can see them from space?

Hm, I doubt it, even though the biggest ones are awfully big.

Given that "spy" satellites can see with one meter resolution (at least that's what has been admitted to), they can quite easily see crop circles. Maybe the question was can you see them from space with the naked eye. The answer is it depends on how high up you are and what their diameter is. Assuming the conventional definition of space starting 100 kilometers up, the answer is probably yes.

They are stunningly beautiful pieces of artwork.

Maybe they're alien graffiti, then? :)

Indeed!
It is clear that they are from a superior intelligence, or at least technology/power. But we don't know if they are trying to help us, or just having a laugh with us, or if they couldn't care less about us and just like the crop fields!...

I lean towards the more pleasant of these. There are numerous examples where people have wished for a particular kind of design, and it then appeared.

Somehow I just feel so skeptical about it, though. I mean... maybe it's somebody just having a big joke? Even though it's right in front of my nose, it still seems impossible, if you get my point.

They're still cool, though. :)

I think they are done with satellites equipped with lasers. Originally done for testing purposes, but now the military are having fun with them. Breathtaking works anyway, however they are done! I think the third example is my next desktop.

I think the circles are awesome and the mystery interesting. However I cannot ignore the precision of the visible farm impelment tracks. If they can operate at that precision then they could also make the circles. There may be a farm hand that takes LSD and goes out on a laser guided tractor at night -- a silent electric tractor!

without excluding any possibilities, I would first lean towards a simple explanation. There seems to be no unsurmountable technical difficulty for making such geometrical figures for a group of persons bent on doing so and well organised...Simple calculation would permit to say how many they would need to be and how much time it would take for any given figure... Beautiful they most certainly are, in my opinion.

crop circles are made by people: I used to have a crop circle making HOWTO webpage link, but i can't find it right now.

just time, preparation some math and some people are really needed :)

I'd like to see how they avoid making footprints. And how they bend the straws so they keep growing.

hey eolake:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crop_circles

proof don't you think? (i'm the second anonymous guy posted)

and the "Response to these claims" are just laughable and written by a clear circle-nut, and i think you'll agree: "National Geographic took five hours to make, and was made in full daylight, with no farmer's dogs barking and no shots fired from farmer's shotguns." he then argues it then means nothing. lol. I doubt any crop-circle hoaxers would continue making a crop-circle if people starts shooting at them. And then again; how many farmers would shoot at people? o_O

Anyway i don't have to say anything more. youre intelligent enough to conclude it's a hoax after reading that.
it's linked to in theentry, but just in case aswell:

In the absence of any other known power, one would have to assume that the circles are man made, and congratulations are due to them, whoever.
If one has lived in the country, one would know that footprints do not register on flattened wheat etc.
The crops have no trouble continuing to grow, as farmers will know, who have equipment to reclaim crops flattened by storms.
Long may they continue to amaze and please us.
