Gitte Hænning sings Miss Sky-blue (updated)
This is actually from before I was born!
What a voice Gitte has! In the Frøken Himmelblå (Miss Sky-blue) clip, both when she's talking, but especially when she sings, what power. And I think she was not yet 20.
The song is about how he advices her to "put the hat askew and flourish with flowers", meaning lift your head and smile, it makes you prettier.
Update:
Some say the vid won't play in the states. TCGirl found a version by two amateur singers, both quite good:
Here is Gitte's greatest hit, only in an English version:
And here the same, in the original Danish, at least thirty-five years later!
It's remarkable how different the singing is. I like the original lively version, but there's also much to be said for this more thoughtful, laid-back version. I think it becomes a different song, really.

Stolen email addresses?
[Update: To be honest, I don't really know what this is. I'm out of my depth. But in any case, no harm in changing your password, particularly to a fresh and long one.]
Online there is a long list of stolen email addresses. They could have been hacked. If you find yours (like I did), you better change your password.
(Download the list. Open it in a pure text editor. It may take a long time to open it, it did even on my computer with a solid-state disk.)

A little memory of space
When I was eleven and my sister was eight, we were once out walking, and she asked me:
"What would happen if if gravity would suddenly fail?"
I said: "Everything and everybody would be slung into space."
After a second's thought, she said:
"We'd better bring an extra-large lunch."

For graphics-rich reading, it makes a heck of a difference.

Man Burning fast in desert
Wow. Burning Man is no longer so easily dismissed. And this kind of photography is a hot new medium.
I recommend watching it full screen.

The new web look
Isn't it amazing how the "in" look of many web pages has changed suddenly in a year or so? In such a short time.
At least among the sites I generally see, an astoundingly great number of them have changed from a text-based design with images and many text links, to a heavily image, large-image, many-image based design, with the most important links being embedded and usually written on, images in the prime space.
I think it was the theVerge.com who pioneered it, although their images usually are a compromise between an actual photo and a colored background for the text, making them semi-abstract. (I think it's a good look, and good for them, it was not easy, I'm sure, to actually come up with a fresh design for home pages.)
When others took it over, they usually went with pure photos, I would guess simply because that abstracting thing is much harder to do right than one would think.
