Japanese sex dolls
Japanese sex dolls, youtube link. I think such are not only made in Japan though.
One of the Japanese manufacturer's site. Quite expensive for a masturbation aid, but one has to admit a lot of craft has gone into the little ladies.
I think it's an interesting sociological phenomenon. Is it disgusting? Perverted? Evil? Trivial? Is it an attempt to replace real women?
Personally I don't think so. Sex is just sex. The important parts of relationships are communication and love.
These things just are to some men what a vibrator is to some women. It's just a mechanical aid for release of tension. And if a woman wants to satisfy herself with such a thing, and just talk to me, more power to her.

very realistic looking.
I can't imagine masturbating to a male doll, well, maybe a few times.
For that price I would think a guy would use an escort service.
Laurie
Reminds me too much of the "Resuscitation Annie" dolls used for CPR lessons. I know I couldnt help myself and start doing compressions on her chest and yelling "Breathe, dammit! Breathe!" Ruins the mood for both of us.
650,000 yen, that's over $6000 - I think that would buy a lot hos. If you lived in Nevada or Amsterdam, that would probably be a better way to go. I mean, if you're a guy who will shell out for a blowup doll you're a guy who is probably not going to shy away from paying for sex... ;-)
If you listen to that Japanese guy's interview, it seems to be more a matter of fidelity. :o)
And the detailed explanations about the "marriage hole"... I nearly peed in my pants!
It's not so much the money that surprises, or that these kind of dolls exist. It more how artful and realistic they are. Can sexbots be that far away now?

I think for a doll "hobbyist" these two are very different. The doll is something you don't just use, but you own it, or possess. It becomes a magickal prop of sorts.
In comparison, using the services of an escort is entertainment. Doll buyers aren't necessarily looking for entertainment.
By the way, as far as I know, this ultra-realistic sex doll concept was invented by Real Doll. They have a male one too, for you Laurie :-)

Sexbots might find a much wider audience. They would be like Nova in Planet of the Apes - beautiful but mute. ;-)
It reminds me of this episode of The Twilight Zone, but sadder.
Yes, that "marriage hole"! That is just amazing, only the Japanese comes up with euphemisms like that. Hilarious.
I wonder if they understand why we find that kind of thing funny.
"The important parts of relationships are communication and love."
agreed, and this through sex is sometimes number one.
I would never pay for the whole doll, I believe most women would agree. We just need a couple parts. We're not really visual anyway.
me? if a man wants to satisfy himself with a mechanical aid, and just talk to me, that could be a nice friendship. Not enough for me. I'm pretty attached to sex. Once I almost became a Buddhist nun, I was at a Zen Monastery, soon to shave my head. I really really wanted to save myself for God. Then One day I saw a guy walking up the temple hill in Levi's and a tool belt, and it's very sad, that blew my vocation. He was so hot. During chanting all I could think of was sex. I married the guy, and have gone downhill in the purity department ever since.

Hahaha! That's excellent. I guess it explains why monestaries/convents tend be isolated! :)
Me, I've gradually lost the interest. The couple times I've tried it out, I lost interest even faster. But clearly that is not a common experience. To the point where it's generally considered a dysfunctional one.
"I would never pay for the whole doll, I believe most women would agree. We just need a couple parts. We're not really visual anyway."
Yes, that's interesting. It seems for men the visual stimulation is very important.
The male doll has the weakness that it won't do the work that the man is supposed to do.
"The male doll has the weakness that it won't do the work that the man is supposed to do."
you said it cowboy.
re. losing the interest, because I know you I know your interests are very profound elsewhere, and that is more than cool.
What do you think of the Hindu idea heaven, where Krishna has ten-thousand lovers? That's what I'm talking about.
Laurie
I view sex as an extension and expression of something deeper. The act itself can't keep me interested. It requires so much effort just to maintain my focus and by the time it's done I'm happy that it's over and I can do something else.
When there is a deep bond of love or friendship and the mood is right, I'd be hard pressed (no pun intended) to do anything else in that moment. It is a powerful physical expression of what I feel for that person. It brings out the playfulness and passion in me in a way that nothing else can. It deepens my bond with the other person in a way that makes me feel that we will always be part of one another regardless of what transpires in the moments and days to come.
It mixes the physical, emotional, spiritual, and even the intellectual parts of me in a seamless and potent way. Through it I haven't just experienced pleasure but I've learned more about my own spirit and psyche than I knew before. These are the grandest of all experiences in my life; they overload all of my senses (including ones I didn't know I had) and yet I am granted clarity instead of suffering madness.
Sex as a purely carnal act can never accomplish that. It's boring and messy and half the time the other person vastly overstays her welcome. I suspect not everyone is naturally inclined to the kind of experience I have, but it makes sense they wouldn't be inclined to pure physical sexuality either. It's hardly mind blowing. "I don't like fucking" is no different than, "I don't like baseball." It's a matter of preference. What's wrong is when people get up in arms over it, like you're some kind of radioactive freak that just crawled out of the sewer. Yes, some people don't like fucking. What are you gonna do? Rape them?
I suspect most of the current population simply wants to ejaculate as often as possible. I think they'd be better served by introspection coupled with some creative endeavor, like art or writing. These days if they absolutely MUST have release they can always kill two birds with one stone and use their bodily fluids in their work. But, as they say, to each his own.
Wow, nicely put Eric.
When I've had my most so-called spiritual moments I've fallen in love with all creation, people, places, things, sidewalks, cars -- everything is beautiful when seen through loving eyes. For some, it's the other way around: they fall in love with a special *other* first and the pheronomes (sp?) kick in, and for one or two years they fall in love with everything. I've come to that place from within first, which is really the within of everything.
It is hard for me to let go of the desire for touch when still in the body. Then again why should I? It is a work to respect the boundaries when I feels so much, but necessary, I know. When I feel nothing at other times, it is a step up to touch another unselfishly.
Eolake, have you a corresponding loss of attachment or interest in touching technological *things* as opposed to people? I.e. new cameras, laptops, etc.? Is this a hands-on pleasure as well? I know it is a means to communication, but the thing in itself, do you love that too?
Laurie
Apart from aesthetics of design, it seems to be mostly love for the method of creation/communication.
And no, so far no loss there.
Funny, the experience Eric described, I wrote that in a couple of sex scenes in a novel I wrote twenty years ago.
Doesn't anyone else view the preponderance (and even the initial DEVELOPMENT) of this sort of thing as a sublime, and rather damning, commentary on the behavior of real living adult human females? If the mute, inert, and rather inhuman doll so readily replaces them for so many men, then what does that say about how well women are fulfilling -- or even TRYING to fulfill -- males' intrinsic, biologically predetermined needs?
What about the men who lack confidence and have the personality of a spoiled tuna sandwich? They get horny, they'd probably use this as a release.
I'm not denying that women are never at fault. There are women that have made me consider chopping my balls off and turning them into a bitter hand-puppet named Smokey that's gay but hates anal sex. Most women, however, fall into the realm of "tolerable" and most men could probably bed one of them if they knew how to capitalize on opportunities. They might even be able to develop relationships if both parties could compromise by agreeing to give up on finding anyone that's actually compatible with them.
So while I'd say you have a point, I doubt that's the major reason dolls like this get made and purchased. The primary reason is that our culture (human industrial societies in general) is batshit insane and produces maladjusted people, totally unaware of themselves and what makes them tick, and they blame men or women or society in general because they don't want to do anything to deal with their real problems.
Then there are people who just think mannequins are hot. We won't speak of them.
I'm not so sure the existence of these dolls indicates that real women are not living up men's needs. I rather suspect the dolls would be used by most men, not to replace women, but to add a new twist to their sex lives.
Some years ago, I read that most men continue to masturbate on a regular basis after marriage, and that they do so even when satisfied with their wives. It just seems to me men want to experience all kinds of sex. So, I wouldn't think the dolls would replace women for most men.
on behalf of all my sisters
brothers, I'm sorry we could not fulfill all your needs. At times we really tried, but found we weren't gods. or goddesses. Other times we got so angry at men not meeting our needs we were b*****ches. We act like *b---ches* when we're really scared inside. The harder and tougher we act on the outside, the sharper our minds, the more afraid we are. I'm really sorry about this,
we keep falling into the trap of expecting human men to be our gods.
We really do love you all, if you could only know! We're learning, over the centuries, some of us longer, how to find that god.
Hope you will all forive us ....
if not now, well, alright.
laurie
We're all in the same boat.
Let him who is without sin sling the first mud.

Leviathud,
Once in Reanimation class, the Professor wanted to illustrate CPR, and asked for someone to show how. Since they needed someone to be the "patient", I volunteered. Well, my classmate assumed the position and then actually did a compression.
That definitely ruined my mood for any further volunteering.
You guys make a very valid point about the availability and lesser cost of genuine paid sex. I would have mentioned the advantage of avoiding legal risks in some places of the world, but that's seldom a problem of the rich.
And yet, I'm very excited by this piece of news. Because, current application notwithstanding, this means huge progress in the realism of human-like robots. And that's cool.
I once read an article about a doll which had mechanical breathing (programmed to accelerate!) and "heartbeat". Alas, it seems Robot Doll Andy was so costly, the official website no longer exists.
There's also the issue of some people who may have the money for this doll, but personal problems about doing it with a real person. Think physical peculiarities of all sorts.
And, I once heard about a very special ethical point: the handicaped adults. Many of them have a perfectly normal sexual drive, but practically no chance of dating and "getting some". In these instances, hooker fees ought to be reimbursed by the health system. Might be cheaper and much more efficient than keeping them on Prozac to withstand the loneliness of their life.
"Once I almost became a Buddhist nun"
I didn't know there were Buddhist nuns.
Anyway, I'm hoping you'll find the zen serenity to cope with your blown vocation. (A "blown vocation"... this sounds like it could mean something else!)
"The male doll has the weakness that it won't do the work that the man is supposed to do."
Many real-life males have that very same problem! :-)

Very interesting. I too have absolutely no interest in sex with a partner when there are no feelings. (And no, I'm not gay! :-)
By feelings, I don't mean "true love" is mandatory. But at least an atmosphere of trust and affection.
"I wrote that in a couple of sex scenes in a novel I wrote twenty years ago."
Is it the one I know, or was there another?
Final,
The essential answer to your interrogation is a question: ARE THERE many men who would like to just go with a well-made sex doll? This needs some objective verification.
..."a bitter hand-puppet named Smokey that's gay but hates anal sex"
Wow, I'd say that's someone with serious issues! :-)
As a dedicated collector of action figures, I think I'd like to get me one of these poseable, super realistic dolls, just for the fun of HAVING one. She'd stand guard at my computer desk when I'm not giving her poses. After all, a doll can also be "just a doll"!
I've gone and gotten myself the huge, 50cm, ultra-super-poseable Spiderman figure, with three articulations on each finger. Told ya I was a dedicated collector.
"Then there are people who just think mannequins are hot. We won't speak of them."
Your discretion is very much appreciated, sir. :-)

They could also help with the fantasy of threesome sex in a couple without major jealousy risks. One could even envision a foursome, with one couple being dolls. Oh, the possibilities!
Also, Sex Ed might become incredibly more educational than those projection drawn images I got bored to death with in my youth. That stuff was so euphemistic, it seemed to have been designed in the Thirties. By monks. Non-Buddhist monks.
"Some years ago, I read that most men continue to masturbate on a regular basis after marriage"
Absolutely correct. And after all, why not?
Medically, I view masturbation as both normal and healthy. It proves that after all these years, you still love yourself. ;-)
A different novel, called _Sage, Hearth, and Sailor_, a "fantasy" novel as heavy as the title, it exists only as a paper script.
Not heavy in the physical sense (just 45.000 words), but not easy to read, laden down with philosophy.
Like, heavy, dude. You the thinker.
The over-thinker, some would have it.

The non-rich will just have to go where it's legal, like Australia. You can't go wrong with a bordello that's traded on a stock exchange:
http://www.dailyplanet.com.au/content2/index.html
And their prices are reasonable. Beats the Sudan, where I hear you can executed - but only after the third time. That's sporting.
New Zealand has one called "The White House". Their official crest was even similar enough to the one of the other White House to raise official protests... :-)
Japanese girls are really hot and come to think of it, if you do not have or you cannot a get a real Japanese girl for yourself, you can avail a Japanese doll which you can do everything you want with it.
I want to buy a adult toys. I need the company of a realdoll. Where can I buy silicone love doll?
I want to buy a life size sex doll . I need the company of a life like adult dolls . Where can I buy real love sex doll ?
