Nice set! It's amazing how good the low light capabilities of the latest iPhone are. My guess is that within a few years regular cameras (DSLR, Mirrorless) will be relegated to the hobbyist and specialty niches (ex., sports). For the vast majority of consumers, the idea of purchasing something other than a phone to take pictures will become a thing of the past.
I have said it before and I'll say it again with tears in my eyes: I am just amazed that with a device I can barely feel in my pocket I can take pictures in better quality in the middle of the night than I could with a bulky camera on a tripod a few years ago. Even in conditions of huge contrast where my eyes could barely follow, the quality hand-held is just outstanding. I agree with your postulate, I’ve had similar thoughts myself. It would have been hard to imagine a few years ago, but these days it takes a special effort to drag around a dedicated camera! And surely they keep getting better.
Hard to believe that a modern DSLR could not do the same low light pics; especially with adjustable ISO. Did you ever print your cell phone pics and look for quality there?
