They had a huge exhibit about it at the Imperial War Museum about four years ago. Quite something. I kind of wonder if people today would be up to doing something like that, or we are too wimpy.
Tommy, the movie was a mix of accuracy and what I'd call spectacularly inaccurate. The motorcycle scene definitely didn't happen, although the War Museum in its one nod to the movie had a replica of the bike Steve McQueen rode.
