Oh gosh, that is so for real and not only for computers. A few days back a neighbour asked me for help to install a TV decoder as "nothing I do works". I did, and then I told him now he should sort out the channels. He asks: How?. I thought "read the fucking user's guide, that's what I'd do!" but I just smiled cute and said "I don't know". Intelligence is 98% curiosity.
Josie, it's good to know that while apparently everybody here is really stupid, at least somebody is less stupid than others. But maybe you wouldn't even admit that, only that some are *more* stupid.

Hey, that's great, Mary, never thought about that before. Who said it first?
"You didn't need to tell us who it was from. Only Eric and maybe Bron would have sent you something so stupid."
Which Eric are you talking about? Because I'm not the only Eric that posts here and I need to know before I can feel bad. Or if you'd rather just insult me/insult me again, that'd probably be more efficient. No reason not to spread the hate around.
Eolake would have to say which Eric, and he didn't. Seems like one of you might want to add something to the name, to distinguish the two of you.

You can go ahead and think that if it helps you get through the night. No there are somepeople who write intelligent, perceptive comments, but they are rare. Mostly this blog attracts pretentious, pompous wannabe artists.

I don’t know. I always thought so, you know, when people compliment me on situations like that and I think, well, it’s just my curiosity that got me there. And I probably read that “quote” somewhere (although I guessed the 98%, maybe it’s only 95%...). But I was reading this just a few days ago http://aaronsw.jottit.com/howtoget and there’s a similar quote there:
“Be curious. Read widely. Try new things. I think a lot of what people call intelligence just boils down to curiosity.”
And I’ve been fidgeting with my blog a lot lately (I think it’s pretty much done now) and took the Magnetic out. Guess it doesn’t shine the same without it, does it?
... I also think that curiosity, just by making you look and think a lot, will stimulate growth of intelligence. (Come on, Josie, there's a straight line for you if you ever got one.)
That's the basic literal meaning of "intelligence", coming from the Latin words "inter" and "legere" => combined to "intellegere", translated "to put inbetween", meaning to find the missing links between things unrelated before in your mind, so that it makes sense now. And that is basically the curiosity to search for it ...
"Eolake would have to say which Eric, and he didn't. Seems like one of you might want to add something to the name, to distinguish the two of you."
Well how am I supposed to know whether or not I should feel lousy if you don't even know who you're insulting? This is all a big mess. You know what, I'm just going to go put on some women's clothes and find myself an abusive boyfriend. At least then I'm sure to get my fix.

Damn, my secret is out!
I tried this, and still had to show them how to Google.

For many, google is the only thing they know. They start up there, type in Disney, and click on disney.com. They don't know any other way.

BTW, why'd you drop the "Magnetic" from your moniker?

Name one. I've never heard you say anything positive about anybody, ever.

I liked it. It was quaint and funny, and stirred a bit of curiosity.
... There was that word again!
The Swartz article seems very promising, I'll read it, thanks.

I second that. Although I do prefer the Spanish version: María Magnética.
By popular demand, the Magnetic is back!
And I agree, ttl, María Magnética sounds like quite a character.
Yeah, could be a superhero.
Or a saint.
Or a rock star.
