Ivy?

Somebody told me that this plant is Poison Ivy. Do we have a botanist in the audience?
(I looked it up, but it didn't seem very distinctive to me.)

Quite definitely NOT poison ivy. It has three leaflets, not five. The five leaflets look more like Virginia creeper, but I can't tell for sure if it is a vine or if the leaves are growing from the tree. Depending on the part of the world the photo was taken in, it could be a horsechestnut.

Is the model still alive? If she is then it's not poison ivy ;-)

I have a healthy infestation of Poison Ivy in the woods adjoining my backyard.

From the other photos in this series on your twitter page, it does appear to be a vine. But I agree it is not poison ivy because of the number of leaflets: Poison Ivy has 3, not the 5 in the photos.

Not everyone is allergic to Poison Ivy, but it can be very very serious to those who are. An acquantience of mine was in the hospital for 5 days with a severe allergic reaction. There are medications available that can be taken if you are allergic and think you might be exposed.

If it was Virginia Creeper, the model may not be out of the woods --some folks are mildly allergic to it also.

"Leaves of three, let it be." Something I learned very early on.

If the model had been in touch with poison ivy, you'd have known about it - the rash would have made her a little less pretty.

That is, unless the model's real name happens to be Pamela Lillian Isley. Then we ARE talking about Poison Ivy.

I for one think the resemblance is striking...
