Thanks to Peter, who said: Plymouth Prowler ... started as a concept car, went into production in the US in 1997 (during which time ALL of them were this colour: Prowler Purple Metallic!) No production in '98 for some reson, then started again in '99 with a choice of 12 colours.

Oh, MY! THANKS, Eo! That is a COOL car! LOVE the exposed front suspension! I do like the wine-colored one the best, though;*that* is SEXY! :-D "Dear Santa...if you really do exist..."! lol! (I'll, at least, put it on my 'Bucket List' to try to, at least get a ride in one, someday! :-D
Not even that expensive, at least not if you're used to Danish car prices. There, you can barely get a decent family car for $50k.
(The tiny trunk is an issue though. You'd think they'd have worked on that. If you have a car like this, you'll want to take it places.)

I was thinking the same! A Hummer costs more and there are a-PLENTY of those crawling around!! Why even a "regular" old truck or van costs almost that, these days, in the US as well!

I agree! That was a little...SILLY! They could even have made the back just a tad longer to include some kind of storage compartment, in the front of where that rag folds down. :-(

YEAH, BABEE! :-P Just have to have someone design a cute little trailer like this one. :-)
That is one butt fugly car!

They actually had avaiulable a matching trailer! It had the same wheels, and looked very much like the existing back end, colours to match:-)
I'm guessing that it would hit performance though, as these cars could shift, at least in a straight line.
FWIW, the line was re-christened as the Chrysler Prowler, before being discontinued. The nearest option they have now is the Crossfire (which IS available in the UK too!) ... no real family resemblance, but a nice enough looking car, all the same.
Yes, I LOVE the Crossfire, as well! BEAUTIFUL car! :-P
I heard there were more German parts in the Crossfire than in its sister car, the SLK.
I've seen Americanized European cars before, and they have mostly been horrible (Chevy Chevette, Cavalier, Mercury Contour, oh the list is quite long). This time they seemed to have done it right

Actually this is probably the most spectacular failure of them all. As far as sheer fugliness goes, only the PT Cruiser comes close.
The difference between this and the real thing is like the difference between Woodstock and Lollapalooza. You can't go back.
P.S. Alex, I don't know about the others, but the Chevrolet Chevette came out first - Vauxhall's was the European version of the American original. They're both horrible and from what I can see virtually identical.
