audiobooks

I'm looking for good downloadable audiobooks. Non-fiction or fiction, funny is best. Any recommendations?

By the way, the iTunes store has always been dead slow for me, no matter what machine I use. Every time I make a search it takes five, ten seconds, sometimes much more. A friend said it's fast for him. How is it for you?

The Beeb have plays for download.

I also found torrents for all of "Saturday Night Fry", which falls somewhere between "Alfresco" and "A bit of Fry and Laurie".

I recommend Stephen Fry's Fry's English Delight series as originally heard on BBC Radio 4.

I haven't noted any unacceptable delays with iTMS. It's slow compared to Google Search, of course, but that's to be expected.

TTL, Never heard of it, but will surely hunt it down now. I also want some Turkish for some reason ;-)

I buy audiobooks from Audible; they have a pretty wide selection. I believe eMusic does too.

Podiobooks offers free books in serialized podcast format. Lots of books there too.

AudioBooksForFree seem to have a lot and their Humour Comedy section lists 129. There is Free Classic Audio Books too. I haven't tried either of the last two myself.

Has anyone listened to The Dongle of Donald Trefusis? Is it any good?

I haven't heard it, but I will.

I'd have though *you* would have heard it, being a Fry fan.

I've been meaning to. But I've had a longish period of listening to music (rather than audio books) recently. But soon it's back to a-books again ...

I get some off torrents, but mostly I've just been using Audible lately (www.audible.com).

And those on Librivox? I read one of the poems in one if the Christmas collections from a few years ago. :)
