Making an iPhone app
Can anybody tell me how to learn how to make and publish an iPhone app? I an not a programmer and I don't want to become one, but it just needs to be a very simple app, based on a short e-book. It consists of super-short (half-page) inspirational-type chapters. It could just be an ebook and it will be that, but I think I can get a bigger market for it by adding a little bit of sizzle and interactivity and publishing it as an iPhone app also.

Pay someone.
I say this as a programmer with decades of experience. I'm currently writing Cocoa apps for MacOS.
I meetup weekly with other Cocoa developers, some of whom have written iPhone apps. I hear horror stories that I wouldn't want to deal with. The horrors seem to come in two types: it's not at all obvious how to get from a working program on your Mac development system to a working program on your own iPhone; and the frustrations of dealing with getting approvals to list apps in the store. The person with the most experience doing iPhone apps has said that he won't do it again.

Wow!
That's surprising.
OK then, how to find somebody to pay?
Can't help there.
Around my area, there's more demand than supply. Actually, I'm not sure there's any supply at all here. I've seen three requests for someone to write a program, with no takers for any of them. It seems like all the people I run into who can (and will) do it have enough of their own ideas that they don't want to take on someone else's idea.
I'm sure there must be people who will do this; I just don't run into them.

Nearly in your neighborhood.

Ask your buddy, Tim Robertson at Mymac.com:

I could probably suggest someone, but they'd be in NL.
What a chance: I'd have to learn programming skills and I could travel to various countries to deal with and satisfy the needs of customers!
I wish I were younger, then I'd do it!
And why the heck am I not studying all those good books about programming which are in my library? Gawd I'm too lazy!
Effort pays.
iPhone devs may be the most in demand at the moment. And whoever has taken the time to learn the ropes probably has an idea of their own that they are occupied with.
But, nevertheless, everything is available for a price.
Have you tried Elance.com ?
Are you planning to build a personal theater around your iPhone?
Elance, thanks TTL.
Anon, thanks, I have indeed mailed Tim.
