I don't take pictures when I go away somewhere. I used to, but it was kind of a drag taking a camera. Even though my digital camera is one of those basic, fits-in-the-palm-of-your-hand jobs that takes good snapshots but isn't anything fancy.
Probably. I don't have a cellphone now though and probably won't be getting one. I guess it's partly an age thing. If it's a family function there are older, usually female, relatives who snap enough pix for everyone. When I go away, sometimes I'll just want a pro job anyway. I mean when I went through the British Museum, I thought "Why take bad amateur shots of something with people standing in the way when I can buy quality pro stuff if I want?" I didn't, but it was an option. I still remember being asked by this asian couple to take their picture, even though the extent of their English seemed to be "You take picture?" Well, that and "No English" when I asked them if the one I'd taken was alright.

I'm *with you* on that!! I can't tell you how many times I've thought that I *should* bring the camera and left it at home, only to want to kick myself for not having listened to myself and brought it! Even when *trying* to enjoy an event, I thought: "I want to be *in the moment* for this" but...with every turn of my head, there's a picture that I couldn't take!!! arg!
And then there are the times when I just want to take pix of surroundings, instead of the people that I am *supposed to* be enjoying my time with but...I am more fascinated and gravitating to *other things not involving people*! lol!
Speaking of the subject of people: I heard a woman walk by me, the other day, commenting to her friend, "I just don't like pictures that don't have people in them." and I thought "What a SHAME how MUCH you are MISSING and not appreciating that isn't a person." ugh! But...*each to his own* I guess... I had just not thought of that, in a long time. I don't spend much time w/pix of people...other than when I *have to*...for family events and *making memories,* of course.
-- Joe, the point may be obvious to you, but I think that for most of the broader population, if anything at all is more to you than other people, especially family, then there's something wrong with you.

What I wrote was only so that you would know I hadn't missed the point of the cartoon.
Remember that article I sent you about how 40% of what you write in an email is misunderstood? ;-)

*other things not involving people*!"
Hm...that REALLY bugged you, huh?! Well...I guess that I would have to agree w/the blurb you just mentioned, re: an article you sent Eo, re: 40% of e-mail content being misunderstood. Throw in blog comments to that figure, too, 'cuz...I was doing a word play on *all things [whatever]* and changing it to what I wrote. In summary: I intended it to read like that. Hope that's OK w/you. ;-)
(*Nice* picture...Dick Face. Or...should I call you Scrotum Breath or...Dick Head?! This picture offers so many possibilities! 'An Absolute Dick' to be SURE! You haven't let us, uh, *down,* there! lol!)

HILARIOUS!! "...the good sense not to marry"...at least her! lol! You could probably have worked something out w/someone who was also *allowed* to have her *toys*. Including her in your *passion* would probably help, too...especially if you were already *married* to it, first. ;-)
I think this gurl messed up, when she agreed to take on a second job. Perhaps he could have helped pick up some of the slack, in the job, finance (budget), and parenting departments. Perhaps none of those *departments* ever even came to mind, when the whole subject of marriage came up, though! Funny how little time is spent looking at ALL these things, prior to the commitment. Bet you he STILL wouldn't *get it* after she divorced him! lol!

I'm guessing in some years mobile phones will take exhibition-quality pictures. At least very good 16x19" prints.

I guess it brings us back to the point of the cartoon. A few crazy people, like me, enjoy photography more than anything else in the world.

Yes, obviously that was the point.
TC, how about this:
other things not involving people! rather than this:
*other things not involving people*!
Just an idea.
TC Girl: well said.
