Here's a funny thing: last week I suddenly got a severe hankering for a traditional Danish birthday cake, lagkage ("layer cake"). It's thin, light cake layers with creme and fresh fruit and whip. Delicious. I hadn't had one in over thirty years.
So I ordered the ingredients online from Denmark. I make most of it today, it will be ready tomorrow.
And then as I'm making it, I suddenly realized: It's actually my birthday tomorrow!
Hah.
So I'm inviting a couple friends over. Not many, I don't like to share.
Update 9.3: Guests been and gone. The cake was a hit. I'd made one with vanilla creme and fresh banana fill, and raspberries on top. In the rush I forgot to photograph it.

Happy Unbirthday!!!
My invitation must have got lost in the email.
Happy unbirthday today, and, just in case I can't get to your party, happy birthday tomorrow!
You may have the cake - - I'd like to entertain the girls ;-)
HBD t Y, HBD t Y, HBD HBD HBD t YYYYY!
Isn't birthday the day when a woman gives birth? How can men even have birthdays?
Anyway, Happy B'day!
Just one year old? That's what it says in the lagkage.

Can't find rest!
The girls look so Dutch! Especially the one on the left and in the middle.
I just lovvvvvvvvvvvve anything Dutch!
DOM - ))
Instead of an unlikely lie, like 29 years old, I just settled for an outrageous one, one year.
Given the Danish search term I used, I guess the girls are Danish.
The chicks in that photo make me go a big rubbery one.
Apart from Danish herring, the girls are what I miss the most.
I can see why.
It varies from day to day, but when they are out in force, oh man!
I remember one beautiful summer evening, I was dining with a friend in Copenhagen, and there were so many gorgeous women out that I said "that's it, I'll start counting". We walked for maybe an hour, and I reached a number of over one hundred really attractive women. Woa.
That Danish herring must be really good.
Tillyke med fødselsdagen, Eo! Hope you enjoy that cake! I'm impressed that you even baked it! ;-) I bet it'll be DELISH! Enjoy celebrating w/your friends! Sounds like you'll be making a great day of it; GOOD for you! :-)
Well, Happy Birthday !!!!
So you were born just one day after the Woman's Day. Must be predestination...
Thank you all for the nice wishes.
(Heck, it's been my birthday for an hour now.)

Mike, Danish herring is the next best thing after pretty young women. Not quite as addictive, but close.
Well, I'm a bit late - anyway:
Happy Birthday!
Thanks, duuuudes.
No, you're in time, it's only been the ninth for a few hours.
"Just one year old? That's what it says in the lagkage."
And I'm not sure they got the name right...
"Instead of an unlikely lie, like 29 years old, I just settled for an outrageous one, one year."
The bigger the lie, the more likely it is to get believed.
Political procedures 101.
"It varies from day to day, but when they are out in force, oh man!"
You seen Asterix and the Vikings, the movie?
The chief's daughter is quite... dynamic! ;-)
Talk about being out in force.
Aniko spotted...

Yeah, well, not everybody cares about that day... :-(
And add my own wishes. Now I know what was the occasion for that Domai promo. :-)
My verif : "etings"
Sounds yummy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEAR FRIEND!
(Yes, I am "SHOUTING!")

Sounds YUMMY! GLAD you guys enjoyed it! What?! No picture for all of us to drool over?! Sounds like a good excuse to...make another one! lol! Just make an itty bitty one, this time, and have it ALL to yourself! We won't be watching! Oh and...don't forget to take a picture of it! ;-)
GLAD you had a nice birthday! :-)
I can only make one size, so I guess I'll just have to steel myself and eat it all! :-)
Fortunately this type of cake actually gets better over a couple of days, due to creme and fruit soaking into the cake-bread layers.
... But then there were a couple of friends who couldn't make it due to my very late notice, so I could just have them around to help.
